At your midwives appt when they dip test your urine is that only to check for protein and sugar or would it pick up at uti as well?

NICE guidelines say we only check for protein now. If there is protein in your urine it could indicate a UTI and if you are having symptoms we can send it off to the lab to see what grows in it! (You can have a UTI with no proteinurea so if you are symptomatic go to your GP.)

Thank you Just wondered as I'm a bit stingy and my kidney area is aching but had mw this a.m and had a clear urine sample. I'm already taking amoxicillin for a chest infection - would that clear a uti if there was one or is it best to go back anyway?
