Hi all,

I've got the best job ever when not pregnant, and the worst when pregnant as I've discovered. I work for an extreme sports company so I spend a lot of time testing out equipment and having loads of fun, but now I'm pg, I'm not allowed :( and now I'm a desk bunny for the next 4 months.

Problem is, I'm getting so so soooo uncomfortable being sat at my desk. I'm getting up regularly for walks to the toilet and such, but when I sit back down I'm getting fidgety and generally uncomfortable. I have a pillow, comfy shoes and drink plenty of water to try and help but its all useless.

Just wondering if anyone else spends their working day at a desk, what kind of things they do to get comfortable and any tips anyone might have for relieving aches and pains when sat down.

Currently typing this with an aching hip from a bad nights sleep :(

Sammy x

Wow, your job sounds amazing... you have my sympathy for having to join the realms of us desk-based people.

I'm 24 weeks and the pain of desk-based office work is starting to kick in! I find that I have to get up for a walk every hour at the very least (and I feel guilty as it looks like I'm skiving) and I'm generally grumpy all the time at work as I feel fidgety and uncomfortable. My boss has been great though and they've got me a lumbar support for my back and a foot rest and I find those really help as they put me in a better position. My main issue now is that I can't get the keyboard into a comfortable position so would welcome tips on that!

Good luck! Maternity leave will be here before you know it :)

Smicha the thought of a footrest sounds absolutely heavenly! I'll have to pester my bosses about one :) Failing that I'll grab a skateboard from downstairs and try not to be tempted to start riding it!

Hi, I'm an uncomfortable office worker, I really feel your pain! Ever since I became preg I've found sitting at a desk really horrid, I constantly have this feeling like I want to climb out of my skin!! It's the only way I can describe it, kind of like I'm really itchy and uncomfortable. I had a lovely week off last week and going back to work was horridSad roll on maternity leave.

Not much help sorry, all I can suggest is making sure you have a good chair which supports your back, getting out at lunchtime for a walk, and getting up as much as possible for drinks, loo etc. I find that if I've got something vaguely absorbing to do work wise I don't notice it as much too!

I know how you feel, I'm normally a mental health nurse, but for the next 5months im a ward clerk! It's pants! I have addressed this by following people around, nagging them alot and telling them off for not recycling, which has solved the being sat at a desk in a office issue!

I kind of wish I was at a desk at the moment. I'm a teacher in a pretty challenging school with very demanding children and spend my whole day rushing around, bending down, climbing over things etc. Only 25 weeks and I'm knackered. I am lucky that I'll be done on 20th of July and not have to go back so shouldn't complain too much I guess.
