Nuchal Scan is booked but need some advice...........

Hi All,

So i'll be 12+5 when I have my Nuchal Scan on 29th June and if I remember rightly I was around the same when I had the Nuchal Scan with my Son last year.

The thing is when I had the Scan Last year the Nuchal measurement was 2.8mm and my bloods didn't come back too great either. I ended up having a CVS after the chance of downs came out at 1:43.

If I had a Nuchal Scan earlier would there have been a possibility this could;ve been avoided or am I just trying to find excuses to move the scan forward to get it over and done with.

I just don't want to have to go through a CVS again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The NF measurement is correlated to the age of the foetus so it wouldn't make any difference.

I think if you have it TOO early you get a false high risk on the blood test because the blood test is looking for a hormone dip which happens at that time in normal pregnancy but not if the baby has downs syndrome (I THINK please correct me if I'm wrong) so it has to be between 11 and 13 weeks, no point having it earlier than 11 wks if you are sure of your dates

the scan confirms the dates for the blood test, so if you are unsure of your dates then get it brought forward, if not it sounds like its in the right window

I'll sit and wait as patiently as I can
