38/39 weeks (sorry!).

justlemonade · 12/06/2012 23:39

I thought I'd got away with it in my first pregnancy and then 10 days from the end they appeared. I'd slathered myself in bio oil and creams for the whole pregnancy too. Thankfully they disappeared pretty fast...only to reappear now as I'm at the end of pregnancy 2!

BionicEmu · 13/06/2012 08:27

I had DS at 34 weeks and thought I'd gotten away with no stretch marks. I had none when he was born. But then the buggers appeared when DS was about a week old! How does that work? Not fair!

ButtonBoo · 13/06/2012 08:31

About 36 weeks and then ka-boom! Teach me for being so smug! They've faded now pretty much. DD is 8mo. And FWIW I work at a hospital (not a dr!) and one of the O&G consultants said creams and oils help relieve itching and keep the skin supple but will not prevent or stop stretch marks. They're hormonal not just as a result if skin stretching. That being said I still slathered on the bio oil in hope!!!

I thought I was going to get away with it then noticed them starting to appear on my hips spreading into my bump and from underneath my bump heading vertically up, I noticed at about 33 weeks and just coming up to 36 weeks now I'm keeping a close eye on them to see how much worse they are going to get, I've used some pregnacare on my bump but always felt that if I was going to get them I would get them.

heliotrope · 13/06/2012 08:32

Right at the end, last week or so - sorry!

Herrena · 13/06/2012 08:33

Right at the end for me - 38/39 weeks! And I'm sure some appeared during labour....

I'm at 34+1 with DS2 now and new ones are appearing. It doesn't seem right, surely the area is pre-stretched?! DH says my bump is a different shape this time and so maybe that's why. Humph.

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 13/06/2012 08:34

On another thread a poster got them about 2 weeks after delivery!

ButtonBoo · 13/06/2012 08:34

Also, get a mirror and look under the bump. I though all was ok until I did that and saw them creeping up from underneath.

Herrena · 13/06/2012 08:35

They do fade very quickly though (within a few months) if that's any consolation!!

Bonnyone · 13/06/2012 10:25

Thanks everyone- Thought it was too good to be true! I'll keep looking out for the little buggers then!!!

I got to 41 week n thought if got lucky. Then overnight I got 1/2 noticeable ones under my bump Sad

melliebobs · 13/06/2012 13:10

And for some reason after I had dd I had more appear?! But it's still minimal

shellywellybaby1 · 13/06/2012 13:12

Got some on my hips about 32 weeks and this morning i noticed some in the bottom of my bump and i am 38+4. So rubbish!!! Been using oils and creams. I think if your gunna get them u will get them not matter what :-/ sorry!

DizzyKipper · 13/06/2012 13:28

Got to 38 weeks, was feeling quite pleased with myself, then BAM!

freelancegirl · 13/06/2012 13:36

34 weeks and none so far, but do have them on hips and thighs from teenage weight gain and loss. I think it is just a case of luck! But it is good to hear that they go quite quickly to. Well, fade. I have learned to live with my teenage ones. I too am slathering on Bio Oil optimistically. Bought a new one yesterday at my local ASDA - just the tiny one - and it was 8 quid! Am sure it would be cheaper elsewhere.

I've been told to watch out for them when we are shrinking afterwards as apparently they can creep up on you then too.

Goingtorainagain · 13/06/2012 15:26

Didnt have any on the monday (checked in mirror), had DD on the wednesday and checked on the thursday and had one, it is quite interesting though as it looks like a big zig zag Grin. Only got one so cant moan.

BuntyCollocks · 13/06/2012 15:39

I had none until ds was born. I think it was the sudden deflation due to an emcs, rather than him being born normally.

bonzo77 · 13/06/2012 15:50

Didn't get a single one last time. Someone please reassure me I'll get away with it again this time!

Flickasfriend · 14/06/2012 23:28

I went to 40+12 with none.... Then a few appeared once I got home. Really thought I had escaped them :(

boredandabroad · 15/06/2012 07:37

with DS (now 5) i had loads! behind the knees, tops of thighs and basically everywhere around my bump! they didn't fade much and now i am 27 weeks with No2 and i can't tell which ones are from No1 or this one! i see them as a reminder of my beautiful son and apart from wearing bikinis they don't affect me! DH doesn't seem to mind either :) i also like my c-section scar, am i weird?? lol
