If this is your first baby, are you planning on 'doing' fathers day for your DP/DH?

I've got mine a little gift and a daddy to be card. Or am I a bit bonkers Grin

I hadn't thought about it but now you mention it, its a great idea! Think I'll knock a card up later.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 12/06/2012 16:12

You can buy Daddy to be cards?! I did look at the cards in tesco but thought buying a normal father's day card would be a bit weird :o

Aworryingtrend · 12/06/2012 16:15

I got a daddy to be card off Moonpig, it has a baby penguin on and says something like 'I can't wait to meet you!". I'm also going to get him a personalised chocolate plaque from Thorntons saying Happy Fathers Day Love From Bump.

McPhee · 12/06/2012 16:16

Clintons and card factory are selling daddy to be cards. Actually, I think I saw a couple in WHSmiths too.

Mine has got the commandos guide to being a dad...all a bit tongue in cheek but I know he'll read it Wink, oh and some sweets.

My dp mentioned he wanted a copy of the scan for his desk at work, but hasnt got round to copying it yet (i told him the original one might fade, so best to do a copy)
But i've done a card with the scan on it, so now that can sit on his desk. :)

londonlivvy · 12/06/2012 16:20

I got a bespoke card from funky pigeon with our scan picture and our bump name (Pepe - means "baby" in maori - my DF is a kiwi) on it. Someone on the Oct thread said they were doing it and I thought it was a genius idea - clearly one that makes me a bit teary-eyed in my over-hormonal state - so hopefully he thinks it's a good idea too. He may just look at me like I've gone a bit mental...

DailyMailSpy · 12/06/2012 16:22

We're ttc and if I fell pregnant before fathers day I was going to surprise him with the pregnancy test in a fathers day card. I think it's a lovely idea to get daddy-to-be presents/cards.

McPhee · 12/06/2012 16:22

My dad has a grandad card too Blush

I think my hormones may have got the better of me over that one Grin

I'm so pleased I'm not the only one! I'm 26 weeks and have bought DH a card and a very basic children's book called 'My Dad' from the bump. Did wonder if I was losing it! x

McPhee · 12/06/2012 16:32

I'm glad I'm not the only one too Beans Grin

I've got mine a personlised card from hallmark they have 30% off at the moment, as I already have 2 boys and expecting a third! I put a picture of them 2 together in one of the boxes and a picture of the scan in the other box, I also got him a sign to go in the car which says daddies little boys on board to! :), It's not alot but he's actually working abroad on fathers day :( so I can sneak them in his bag!

CakeBump · 12/06/2012 19:04

Sorry I think its weird... treating the unborn child as if it has actually arrived. It just strikes me as odd...

But, each to his/her own :)

The card shops are laughing all the way to the bank!

llamallama · 12/06/2012 19:12

My DD is 8 months old now but this time last year I made DH a card.

I wrote (with eyeliner) "happy father's day love bumpy" on my bump, took a photo (using self timer) and had that made into a card at photobox!

DH loved it!

He gets a proper card and a gift this year though!!

Convert · 12/06/2012 19:14

I got a card from moonpig with the 4d scan picture on too! So either we're all strange or it's fine!

bettybat · 12/06/2012 20:48

All card shops are laughing all the way to the bank - most "days" are just commercialised manipulations into buying bits of card and tat.

There's nowt wrong with it - it's just a bit of sentimental sweetness between couples :)
