Are braxton Hicks supposed to be painful or uncomfortable?

Because I think I've had several tonight, 36+2, but it's been an ache in the tops of my legs. Only then have I noticed my tummy has gone hard? It doesn't hurt though.

Anyone know?

I had BH from 16 weeks and they hurt me but I had a very small frame and a very big baby- it was different to contractions but I can't remember exactly how they were different at the moment - post birthing brain I'm afraid!!!

I was getting them at that stage and didn't notice at all - my dsis, who was a MW, had to point them out to me - she could see them from across the room! They did get harder though the closer we got to the date. (and then past it...)

How long in length did they last.....seconds or minutes.

I've had a funny tummy today, and now I'm wondering about these Hmm

For me bh could be uncomfortable, but not painful, my belly would go hard, but they didn't have any real strength or bite to them iyswim, also changing position and moving around would cause them to stop.

I've been having a few bh's a day for about the last week or so (I'm 29 weeks). They sort of feel like something pushing against my stomach, and it goes really tight and hard. They aren't comfortable, and make me stop what I'm doing for a few seconds but I wouldn't say they hurt, they have taken me by surprise a few times and made me go 'oooohhh' though! Grin

Are they regular, or just one off things? With my dd I had one every 5 minutes for a few hours at about 36 weeks and was convinced things were about to kick off (particularly as I was born at 36 weeks, as was my sister, and she was already fully engaged) but they died down again and she arrived at 39 weeks.

I've been having regular BH for a good few weeks (I'm 39+5) and they can be uncomfortable, mind you my bump is HUGE! The whole bump goes rock hard and changes shape. They can also be very regular too, but sadly they haven't amounted to anything yet.
