When I see couples with their babies n children and me alone age 40 and pregnant. Just didnt think this would happen to me. I sometimes feel like I must be mad doing this alone but then I think how wonderful it is that I have a life growing inside me

Heya hormonal, I am doing this on my own too, dc3, to
3rd diff partner, which
Makes me sad, it's not how I planned things but my kids are soo loved and well looked after. My dd is 11 in a few weeks and my ds is 5 and has severe special needs so I'm used to hard work with my ds. I'm 21 weeks and having a lil girl xx

Hi Hormonal, just wanted to say that I can appreciate that it must be hard for you to see other people doing it together BUT just think of what a fantastic bond you're going to have with your child.

It will be hard at times I'm sure but in my opinion single parents are a special kind of hero!

Is this baby your first? Do you have family and friends who can provide you with some support?

Pickles77 · 10/06/2012 18:59

I'm Alone too and i completely understand

Another one doing it alone. Just remember, things aren't always sweetness and light in relationships. Sure, in an ideal world, there'd be a totally supportive amazing man around, but if the man isn't that, he can be as hard work as the baby.
Lean on your friends and family. It's my theory, though still 16 weeks from having an actual baby, that people will rally round more with me being on my own. When a couple have a baby, I think people want to give them space to let their new family cement.
And from what I've been told having a baby can be lonely and hard even when you are with the most amazing man in the world - so we are all in a similar boat really.
Hugs xx

There is no such thing as the perfect family! What makes a family perfect is if the carer loves the child with all their heart and does everything they can to be a good parent!!!

Notmyselfatall · 10/06/2012 20:36

Well said milk :)

Margerykemp · 10/06/2012 20:38

Awww some lovely posts, great to hear these stories x

This baby will be loved and is very wanted so yes it can't be wrong bringing it up alone.

I have 2 children DD 12 and DS 10 and their dad has even said he'll help where he can

My family are pretty supportive, have two sisters who love babies
