Hi, am 7 wks 3 days with second pregnancy, have 2 year old son. Prior to him I had a MC very early on. Had light spitting last night before I went to bed and had more this morning, phoned NHS24 who sent me up to out of hours hospital just to be on safe side, they said prob normal & to phone Early Pregnancy Unit in the morning (theyre not open on a Sun!) just got home however & bleeding slightly heavier, brown in colour (sorry if TMI) and I have cramp, feels like I'm about to get period. Am really worried, anyone else had early bleeding that can reassure me of positive outcome. . Can't believe I have to wait till tomorow to go to unit to find out what's happening!!

to be honest it really doesn't sound hopeful, especially with the cramps. There are women who bleed throughout their pregnancies and the outcome is still a healthy baby but your cramps are worrying. I'm sorry. Fingers crossed it works out ok.

Try to relax, put your feet up. If the bleeding is getting heavier, and you have accompanied cramps then unfortunately it may be the start of a miscarriage. But it also may be nothing, so try to stay calm and wait it out until you see the epau. I know how nerve wracking it can be, I had two mc at 9 weeks, that started the same way. But I have also had bleeding at 9 and 13 weeks in this pregnancy and there has been no problem, and no apparent cause for the bleeding, so there is a bit of hope.
Hope it all goes well for you.

Hello! I don't know if this will be helpful or not.
I had a bleed in last pregnancy at 6 weeks that started brown and went on for nearly 2 weeks. After a few scans we discovered no heartbeat and it was a mmc. I didn't have any cramps though.
With ds i had a huge bleed and cramps at 17 weeks. Massive. I was convinced that was it and we would lose him, but it was put down to being one of those things. It stopped after 4 days. They found no cause and I went on to have healthy ds.
I am currently 5+6 and have been spotting for a couple of days and have scan on Tuesday, so do not know what will happen.
Cramps are a normal part of early pregnancy though.
Fingers crossed for you chipmunk x

So sorry your going through this terror, but it does not ness have to be bad news....

I had 4 incidents of bleeding between 6weeks and 11weeks (now 19wks). I also had a MC last year so I can completely empathise with your agonising wait for Monday to be able to arrange a scan to reassure you that all is ok.

My bleeding is thought to have been caused by my uterus growing and busting a few membranes which caused the bleeding. It was sometimes bright red sometimes dark depending on how long it had taken to come out. There were many other reasons that could cause 'harmless' bleeding also that I was told about also, such as polyps and other benign growths on your cervix. Sex can cause harmless bleeding also.

I got a few cramps in the first few months which again were pretty scary, but were also put down to the impact of the growing uterus.

The only way to get a proper answer/relief is to get a scan so push for it when you eventually get through to the EPU if they don't immediately offer one.

I was also told by the nurses during my scans that approx 30% of successful pregnancies suffer bleeding in the first few months, so it is not uncommon and the odds are in your favour.

From experience, I know I can't really make you feel better now, only the scan will do that, but I hope I have managed to convince you that there is a good chance it could all be fine too.

Hi, I'm 8+2 and have had brown spotting everyday since I was 5 weeks and one red bleed. I had a scan at 6+5 and there was a baby with a heartbeat. The spotting goes on and is really demoralising but everything seems to be ok at the moment. I have terrible nausea and a rely tired which is a good thing too. I hope it works out for you.
