Apart from the obvious of having a cuddly newborn what are you really looking forward to?

I am looking forward to being able to walk without pain, get comfy in bed, play with the boys and having a small drink of cider as I have been craving it all the way through pregnancy.

Oh and being able to shave my legs without having to resort to strange positions!!

As I see it, tiz all her fault Grin

Oh the prawny lemony goodness had me nearly under the table Blush

EdgarAllenPimms · 10/06/2012 17:24

i bloody love prawn sandwiches. my favourite.

i think possibly the best (im not sure if they still do it) was the lemon mayonnaise rocket and king prawn one from Sainsbos...though i'm prepared to believe M&S one could transcend it.

I have always eaten prawn in pg. and had the odd cider or weak G n T. There is a bottle of grand cru awaiting my delivery...its been waiting since february..

tbh i'm really looking forwards to the newborn being about 18 months. i like toddlers.

crosses fingers, in case invoking some kind of karma that would make forthcoming one into a tantrumming beast

Rare steak
Runny poached eggs
Unpasteurised cheese
Sleeping on my front
The gorgeous South African wine that got delivered when I was 10 weeks and I refuse to let DH open while I can only have a little glass!
Proper weeing where more than a trickle comes out!

I can't wait to go on a diet and do some exercise. Been advised by my consultant to do the absolute minimum during pregnancy (previous preterm birth) so I feel like a blobby sloth.

SEX!!! (not allowed)

Delicious booze - DH has bought a case of cava for me, bless him! I also crave White Zinfandel, Costco's pre-mixed Margarita, Mojitos and an ice cold Budweiser.

Sleeping on my stomach

Losing the swollen legs & fanjo (please god!)

My bum going back to normal (pregnancy piles)

Buying nice clothes that I actually like, rather than just whatever fits

Zumba! In fact ANY exercise - even looking forward to walking with the pram

DS is almost three weeks old & I was only thinking this morning how much better it is to have a newborn than it is to be pregnant, and that's despite having been up for the first part of the night whilst I vomitted & the second part of the night whilst DS vomiited. So, what I like is:

  • knowing that the last few weeks of pregnancy & labour went well (although I know worry about cot death etc rather than still birth)
  • getting to know my baby
  • sleep. Yes, DS wakes in the night but I don't suffer from insomnia any more & nor do I need to wee constantly. And I am comfortable in bed and can turn over as many times as I want
  • not having heartburn or trapped wind or being constipated
  • being able to hug, carry & play with DD
  • being able to hug DP properly and consider having sex
  • being able to function normally - walking at normal speed, driving comfortably, going up & down stairs easily etc
  • being able to eat what I want & have some alcohol
  • feeling as though I can get on with life again & make plans rather than constantly wondering when DS would turn up & how old he would be when X or Y happened.

Its so so so much better!

SEX - stopped at the moment as it made me bleed slightly and it's not worth the worry.

SLEEP - very insomiac at the moment.

Walking long distances - again, I think large amounts of standing/walking have made me bleed slightly. I've resorted to driving to most places.

Diet - Got pregnant Christmas time when I'd stuffed myself and put on a few lbs. Would like to lose a couple of stone, hopefully some will come off naturally with the baby and water retention!

EmilyD2012 · 11/06/2012 09:22

Thank you Murtette, that was such a warming response! 40+3 here and desperately looking forward to all those things! Such a relief to know it all gets better so soon!

NinjaChipmunk · 11/06/2012 09:32

I'll be 38 wks with dc2 on weds. I am so looking forward to my heartburn going and being able to turn over in bed without having to hold both sides of my bump and grunting.
I might actually resume having a sex life at some point too. Poor dp, he's a patient man!
Runny eggs
Sleeping in any position I like
I am really really looking forward to introducing ds to his sister, he asks every morning how long it'll be until she's here.
Not being punched in the fanjo/ bladder from inside!

McKayz · 11/06/2012 11:17

Oh Murtette I feel so jealous. I want to be able to roll around in bed, from back to tummy and back again.
