Apart from the obvious of having a cuddly newborn what are you really looking forward to?

I am looking forward to being able to walk without pain, get comfy in bed, play with the boys and having a small drink of cider as I have been craving it all the way through pregnancy.

Oh and being able to shave my legs without having to resort to strange positions!!

Also I want to be able to do the school run without needing to stop. School is a mile away and I don't drive.

38+1 today so can't be too long left.

Sleeping on my stomach

Being able to stand up easily again

Being able to hug my 8 yr old properly again

being able to eat more than a teeny portion without feeling full and hungry at the same time.

A nice gin and tonic made with fever tree tonic, lots of cucumber and of course lots of gin. I know I could have a weak one but what I really want is a strong one so have made do with occasional sip of dh's.
I have dropped hints to several people if they want to buy a present when the baby is born, sod baby stuff or hand cream for me what I would really love is a beautiful platter of really ripe Camembert, goats cheese, salami, Palma ham and pâté. A beautiful cheese shop opened up in our town a couple of months ago but I have refused to visit it until I can choose the cheese I want rather than being stuck with the normal pregnancy choices.
Also looking forward to sleeping on my tummy and not waking up every hour to go to the loo (of course baby will sleep through the night from birth!)
I am 38+1 baby is engaged and I am having regular major twinges at bottom of bump and lower back pain so midwife reckons it hopefully shouldn't be long. Dh has banned long walks, bouncing on birthing ball, spicy food, pineapple and sex until the decorating is finished on Sunday evening then apparently I can try everything!

Kveta · 08/06/2012 19:10

sleep.

no more waiting.

being able to tell everyone her name - I HATE keeping secrets, and we've known her name for about 20 weeks now, and it's killing me :o

in a few weeks, hormones to have returned to some sort of normality.

Bfing a newborn again - if only because it can't be as sore as bfing a toddler at 40 weeks!

re: cheese, we can eat pasturised cheese ladies - I have a slab of dolcelatte (?) blue cheese in the fridge for lunch tomorrow and cannot wait to get stuck in! would be nice with a large glass of red wine too mind.

40+3 and no sign of baby here :( Angry

Jergens · 08/06/2012 19:21

Midgetm · 08/06/2012 19:29

Gingerbreadlatte · 08/06/2012 19:38

one last one, being able to drink a whole cup of tea without feeling sick.

Florin · 08/06/2012 20:05

Agree about telling everyone the name too. We have known his name since I was about 7 weeks pregnant (we were convinced we were having a boy and were right) I can't wait to share it.

Kveta · 08/06/2012 20:10

Florin this is why the antenatal groups on here are such a god send!! I love the name you've chosen :)

I am also looking forward to not being sick Jergens

twofurryones · 08/06/2012 20:18

Not feeling sick
No heartburn
Bring able to eat and drink what I want without thinking whether it's on the forbidden list, especially rare steak, decent cheese, pate and wine
Normal hormones
Not worrying about BP/protein
Being comfy on the sofa
Being comfy in bed
Being comfy
Sleep (yes, I do sleep better with a newborn than when pregnant - not necessarily more, just better Wink)
Sex
Meeting baby
Telling people what she is called
Seeing DD meet her baby sister
Breastfeeding

McKayz · 08/06/2012 22:23

Oh yes being able to kiss DH during sex. Last time we had sex before he went to work we couldn't kiss due to the bump. Quite amusing but also annoying.

Oh I like this thread. 38 weeks today and I'm looking forward to:
Rare fillet steak, unpasturised cheese, red wine, G&T, spiced rum, baileys, runny eggs, lying on my stomach, sleeping flat on my back again, lounging on the sofa and bring able to get up again unaided, running in the woods with my dog, painting my toenails, seeing my bits Grin, not getting stuck in the bath, taking ibuprofen for my aching back, pain free hips, sex in currently impossible positions, being able to fit through small gaps again, looking at normal clothes in the ships and there being a chance they might fit, wearing my old clothes again...... Sure there's more :)

AmethystMoon · 09/06/2012 06:37

In the shops.... Not ships, which reminds me not having swollen fingers n feet is another!

Macaroons · 09/06/2012 07:06
