My belly button hurts!

I'm 15+6 and all afternoon I've had a really sore belly button! I know it sounds silly but it's really starting to worry me. It's so sore that even touching it lightly hurts, although to look at it it's fine.

I'm away at the mo and doubt I'll get a GP appointment before next week. Have my first appointment with community midwives next week but don't know if I should leave it til then or not. Am I worrying about nothing? xx

Is it protruding? After I had my DS I had a hernia out of my bellybutton. When the muscles relax and part to allow growth of the bump you can get this happening, though I don't know if it is possible whilst pregnant. If your intestines are protruding it can have potentially serious consequences. Try to resist poking away at it and I would have a chat with a GP or midwife tomorrow.

You haven't been wearing something that's been rubbing against a protruding belly button, have you? I had a really sore belly button a few weeks ago (am now 19+3) and the soreness felt much 'deeper' than just a skin irritation, if that makes sense. Turns out that it was the shirt I'd been wearing, despite it being quite loose - the seam had been rubbing. Off with the shirt, no more soreness since :) Hopefully it's that simple for you!

Thanks. No it's not protruding. This is DC2 but sure it didn't happen last time. It's weird cos when I touch it and it hurts it feels like the pain goes really deep iyswim. Will try and get hold of someone tomorrow but am am gonna be travelling a lot of the day xx

I have a sore belly button too, I'm pretty sure it's normal pregnancy stuff for me. I even sometimes get this really sharp pain the runs from my belly button all the way down to my vagina. In general I've had a sore lower belly for most of my pregnancy. I do have to agree it sounds a little silly, walking around and saying "my belly button hurts".

youve just reminded me that my belly button hurt for a while too when I was pregnant, not sure if Id bumped it or anything it was just as it was popping out it went away on its own though. Normal most probably-definately wasnt the worst part of pregnancy Grin

Thanks everyone.

Finally got a chance to speak to my GP yesterday. He advised me to go to a&e as a precaution. Friday night at a&e was fun lol. Basically I have a hernia. Fortunately it goes in rather than out so it's no problem at the mo. The dr said the pain will probably last all pregnancy but hopefully that'll be it, although he's told me what to look out for in terms of it getting worse.

So not nice to be in pain but at least everything's ok xx
