I'm 39 weeks now with my second pregnancy and unfortunately I've had a horrid pregnancy from start to finish. My last pregnancy was soooo easy all I had was heartburn until the end we obviously I had aches and pains and was fed up like every over 34+ week pregnant woman out there. This time I've had morning sickness the entire way through to the point that I lost 1 1/2 stone in the first half of pregnancy and dropped 2 dress sizes! I've had severe SPD, I got the flu in the middle of my pregnancy which was the part i was SUPPOSED to be feeling better. And due to an illness that i have i'm extremely anaemic and have very low blood pressure (80/50-95/58) AND they won't let me be late because they need the cord blood and placenta etc in fully working order so they can't risk it starting to deteriorate.

I've had 1 sweep yesterday which so far hasn't done anything, I'm 1-2cm dilated and my cervix has dropped and nice and soft but is still thick. I'm having another sweep next week and if that fails I'll be induced (which I REALLY want to avoid)

Does anyone know the best way to help the cervix thin out? Any other ideas for helping to trigger labour that isn't lots of walking because I literally have crutches to walk!

Sex! Oxytocin in the sperm can help the cervix on it's way :)

I told DH I'd spent 9 months carrying his child for him, it was about time he did something for me (plus cooked his favourite meal and was v nice to him for the evening) it worked a treat.. Good luck!!
