Already posted this in 'childbirth' but had no reply, getting a little worried now.
I am 26wks with 2nd and have a long way to go yet, however over the past couple of days i have been have bh contractions and keep needing to go to the loo. i have also been having period type pains. I only remember getting all this a few wks before going into labour with my first. Went straight into fast intense contractions. Was already 7 and a half cm dialated. He was born witin 4 hrs.

I have been under alot of intense pressure recentley because my mum passed away suddenly 6 wks ago. Is it just stress or all normal? The bh are quite intense sometimes i find my self waiting for it to start happening! Also i was a premiture baby would that be anything to go by?
Any advice to put my mind at rest, my head is all over the place still in shock with mum going.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I should think the stress is making it all worse. BHs can be very strong though, I had strong pains throughout three pgs and I went full termish every time. Stress can make it worse, as well as worrying about them. Maybe the baby has moved down a bit, pushign on your bladder and making the pains worse?

thanx for reply, i am still continuing to get period type pains and bh. Think i will have a lay down with ds and rest. Not been the best of days today must admit.
I will call the mid wife if things went really intense. But i think i should take it easy

Dunnyjo - I'm also 26 weeks pregnant, 2nd baby and had something very similar last week - convinced I was having contractions fairly regularly for about 2 hours. Wasn;t sure that they were BH though - as I never felt BH contractions first time around...

Anyway, if I were you I'd bypass your midwife and ring the antenatal ward at the hospital. This is what I did and they advised me to go straight in to be looked at. Spent about 2 hours there in total - they monitored the baby, monitored contractions, took usual wee samples and finally I was examined by the Obs registrar on duty. In the end all the symptons faded away, but they did tell me to rest up for a couple of days as they were pretty convinced in the absence of any other cause, that it was all down to stress and worknig too hard....

Hope things get better - but please get yourself looked at...for your own piece of mind if nothing else.

I had something similar when I was pregnant and it turned out to be a urine infection. Would be worth contacting your midwife or labour ward. I was advised to go in to the labour ward and was monitored for several hours before the infection was diagnosed. Urine infections can make you go into labour if not treated.
Sorry to hear of your loss - must be a very difficult time.

Get things checked out asap, it'll put your mind at rest and they will continue to monitor you carefully.
I'm really sorry for your loss.
