Hi all,

Just thought I'd start this on the off-chance that someone might have some tips I haven't come across yet on how to relieve heartburn. I've had it throughout pregnancy but it has now got to the 'waking me up in the night' stage and is literally so painful it makes my eyes water!

I'm due tomorrow(!!!) but as I'm not convinced this baby is going to be punctual I wondered if anyone had any advice to make these last few days less uncomfortable?

Have eaten all the Rennie in the local area, Gaviscon makes me sick, and cold milk doesn't seem to do it for me. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Weird as it might sound I always found a cup of warm water helped me.

Lidl sell 2 packs of mints in a tin for £1.19 (I think) 2 of them and it's like a little miracle within 5 minutes. I now have 10 packs dotted around house, car, changing bag and work.

Am loving the refreshers idea, will be off to source them tomorrow!

Ds is 5months now but copious amounts of double action Gaviscon (the mint one) and Love Hearts got me through. Just!

Ds was born with, and still has, masses of hair!

Thanks for all these tips folks. I'm only 12 weeks and have it so bad already it keeps me awake at night and miserable all day, is my whole pregnancy gonna be like this? never had heartburn before but this feels worse than morning sickness. Argh! Gaviscon gives temporary relief but then it comes back worse later. Thinking of seeing a local holistic herbalist dude who was an awesome reputation. Mm, i should do it and not just think about it. OK, whinge over!

I went for Ranitidine, on prescription from GP. It's marvellous stuff - I was waking up at night with hideous heartburn, have been sick a couple of times because of it too, and this stuff totally knocked it on the head. I'm 40 weeks today & will be taking it until the baby exits! Grin

harrassed DS was also born with lots of hair, I was mightily pissed off when it all fell out when he was two weeks old, all that heartburn for nothing Angry Grin
