How long did you wait before trying for DC2?

Just that really.

Gave birth to DC1 10 weeks ago and am already contemplating trying for DC2, though I had the pregnancy from hell so not 100% sure that's such a wise idea.

So just curious to know how long you waited? And how different the 2 pregnancies were?

Ds Is 2 1/2 and we've just started ttc again. My pregnancy was horrible and I hated every second so feel like I'm mental to do it again but I want another baby and so I just wanna get it over with now. Have no idea how I'll cope if pregnancy is the same as before with a toddler. at least I'm a sahm now so don't have to worry about getting to work.

9 months. DS2 was born 4 weeks ago . Having DS1 at nursery full time for a bit is a godsend.

we didnt start ttc til DS was 2 either - he had colic and was a nightmare so it took a long time for me to even contemplate having a newborn again, despite being pretty easy since 6months.

We always said we'd just have two though and within a week of DD being born started talking about another one!! SO I do have an idea how you feel....having said that 3years has proved so far to be a great age gap

DS1 was 18 months when we started. It took us a year last time, but this time I got pregnant the first month Smile

Am now 3 months.

Our dd is 19 months and we're thinking of trying for dc2 in a few months. I felt very broody when dd was still tiny and so have a couple of friends. The broodiness did wear off - think it's just part of the mad hormone situation post natally. I'm glad we've waited - dd has been a real livewire but loads of fun and I couldn't have enjoyed it as much if I was pregnant or with a newborn.

Hi ladies- I am currently 26 weeks' pregnant with DS2. DS1 will be exactly 2 when this one is born (funnily, DS2 is due on DS1's birthday!) We didn't expect to conceive so soon when we started trying. That said, we were both happy with a 2 year gap (despite people continuously telling me how much hard work it is going to be). My pregnancy was lovely first time around, but i am finding it harder work this time. Probably because I am running around after a toddler, who is a very tall boy and expects to be picked up alot (and also clambers all over me). I do know of people who have 13-14 month gap between children. At least you get all the baby stages out of the way in one go!

We started TTC#2 around DS first birthday. Have had 5 miscarriages, and DS was 4 2 weeks ago, but I am now 23 weeks pregnant, and all continuing well, the gap will be 4y4m. So not what I planned/hoped for, but I'm lucky to be considering any sort of gap at all.

Six months.

Ds2 now 11 months and I'm 19 weeks pg.

I've heard all different times to wait before ttc again, but six months seems to be the average. Just to let your hormones, your cycle and body recover from having a baby-which is a huge task for our bodies.

Congratulations on your new baby.

As for my pregnancies, they have all been very different.

Ds1 was what would call text book

Ds2 was awful- horrendous ms, I lost weight in the first trimester and was actually sick a few times every day. Utter exhaustion too-like I've never felt in my life. High blood pressure. Baby back to back. Swollen throughout. Difficult labour.

Dc3- hardly any sickness or tiredness, no problems so far.

Good luck whatever you decide

I have just had a positive test and, if all goes to plan, our first will be about 22 months old when the second arrives.

Flisspaps · 07/06/2012 08:16

14 months. It was when DD slept through and we suddenly gained rose tinted spectacles...

twofurryones · 07/06/2012 08:57

8 months although we weren't really trying I was just being a bit blasé about contraception as I had spent the previous 8 months being beyond broody. I'm just hoping this doesn't happen next time I really really only want two children!

We gave up the thought of having a second when we spent 2 years trying to get DC1 to sleep properly. But then he almost reached 3 and we gave it another go, I am now 32 weeks and when the second is born DC1 will be 3 and 9 months.... The good thing is he is already fully toilet trained, plays by himself, listens and willing to help. Hopefully this will make things easier.

First pg was a dream. No morning sickness, no exhaustion, house hunting and full time job, until 2 weeks before EDD.
2nd pg, a bit more difficult, tired, sickness, heavy bump, breathless, 32 weeks and off work fr a whole week already.

Is it age or normal when there is a toddler to run after too ? Can't say, but tiring definitively.

About 20 months, but only because I wanted to breastfeed DS until he was at least 2. I would have loved a smaller age gap.
