Anyone got experience of getting pg without having af and I was just wondering how you knew and whether you were trying! I know that sounds strange but I am bfeeding my 9mth old (only once or twice a day though), not using any contraception....! Not had any af since giving birth. Wondering if they'll ever return... Thankyou!!

I did. My baby was 4 months old and I had just stopped breastfeeding. Became a bit suspicious about being pregnant as I was feeling slightly nauseous but pregnancy test was negative. Tested again a few weeks later when still nauseous on a girly weekend away and got a BIG surprise to see a very strong positive sign. My other two children had all taken a while to conceive so I had thought it wasnt too big a risk!!!

I did. Ds was about 9 months. He'd just abruptly stopped bf himself. We weren't using contaception as were happy to get pg, but not consciously trying iyswim. I met someone I knew whose ds was same age as mine in Boots & she'd told me she'd got pg by accident & was really upset. I just thought to myself - how would I know if I was? & it was niggling at me, so I bought a test to put my mind at rest - and it was a BFP!!!!!!! I was dead chuffed! But then disappointed I was only 8 weeks. Was rather hoping to find out late & knock several months off the wait, but as there's only 17 months between then, it was probably for the best.

So I think I had about 4 years without af, which was a bonus.

It does happen. so watch out if you don't want it to happen to you.

I do wnder sometimes when I would've found out if I hadn't bumped into her in boots, as I had no symptoms or suspicions. I still looked about 6 months pg, so probably would've been the first kicks otherwise. lol

ernest.I seem to "know" when I am pregnant, right from implantation, and know for definite when the savage m/s kicks in at about 5 weeks!!

I'm ttc atm and am still bfing ds, af still not returned. He's just dropped two night feeds (sleeping through - yay!!!) so I am hoping that either a. af will come back or b. I will get pg. Previously my af has only come back when I stopped bfing entirely though so I'm not getting my hopes up.

IIRC Lockets got pg with db3 without the return of af. - as ernest says, it does happen!

Thanks for your posts. Does anyone know if all babies go off bfeeding when pg again?

Not at all, Ruby. Lots of people have fed their babies whilst pg with the next one. If you search on "tandem feeding" on here you will find lots of information and experiences.

no I'm sure mine going off was coincidencce, as ds2 suddenly stopped at same age & I wasn't pg then!
