Upset, no sleep and pain in bump...all related?

Hi,

I found out yesterday my Gran is dying. The doctor came out yesterday and said she didn't have long left. It has really hit me hard.

Since finding out I've felt sick and cried loads. Ive also had a very bruised feeling on the side of my bump (33 weeks pg). Even a blanket touching it is sore. I haven't knocked into anything and I didn't sleep awkwardly as I haven't slept at all.

Is it possible that the shock is causing the pain? Or is it unrelated? Also any tips for dealing with the sadness? All I want to do is lie in bed.

Hi. I posted a thread this morning about my generally feeling dreadful in my pregnancy, but I noticed your post and wanted to reassure you. Any stress/upset can cause Braxton Hicks and sharp pains and nausea - in my case caused by in-laws. I spoke to the hospital when mine started (baby hadn't moved for ages too) and they advise taking two paracetamol with a whole glass of cold water and laying on your side for 2 hours (easier said than done I know). If the pain does not ease then call the hospital back. I have done this around three times now and it does seem to help. Please talk to your midwife just in case though. I am really sorry about your Gran. xx

Thank you for replying, I'm sorry that you are also feeling stressed. It's good to hear the paracetamol, water and rest helped.

Thankfully I'm still getting regular movements, the pain is still there though. It seems like half my stomach is bruised but visually there is nothing there.

Watching DVDs in bed now,the distraction seems to help with the emotions to some extent.
