I want me and DH to start talking to 'the bean' but am just wondering he/she will be able to hear us yet??! I am currently 14+2 wks pregnant...

Also suppose I'd better start toning down my potty mouth too! (all good practice for next year when he/she picking up very thig we say!)

at 16 weeks or earlier. def by 16 weeks.

they open their eyes (tho have little vision) at 24 weeks but apparently can sense light from much earlier.

i have tried and failed to curb the swearing! am now nearly 25 weeks.... oooops.

24 weeks and they can recognise different voices. My little one now reacts when her Daddy gets home by wiggling about and I'm 24 weeks

According to the Pampers scan photo frame-thingy that you get in your Bounty pack, the baby starts hearing around 12wks, although can't understand the words obviously!! I think the sooner you start talking to them, the sooner they recognise your voice (& Daddy's), so it can't be a bad thing.

I already respond to baby's kicks with a 'hello baby' or similar and I'm just 16wks, so I think its only natural to want to communicate with the little guy or girl :)
