Anyone else getting swollen feet and calves at 28 weeks?

Is it just me ? I can't blame the heat as it happened all last week when it was cooler. I'm working full time still as an office manager and it's usually by the afternoons but sometimes by lunch. It's quite uncomfortable in my lower legs and then by evening the feet start looking completely out of shape! Bluergh. I'm getting plenty of exercise and haven't really gained much weight. Is this normal or do I have a problem?

I am exactly the same as you, 28 weeks, and really BIG ankles now! I wondered if I have put on too much weight - but around 1.5 stone so, so I don't think I'm too big.

I was fine during the mini-heatwave, ginormous legs now. I am feeling more thirsty though, so perhaps we are now retaining more fluid?

I'm 27 weeks and my feet are feeling the strain already too! LOL

I wouldn't worry too much, Truebecca, it's all pretty normal. During my first pregnancy (I'm pregnant with #4 now) I had 'pitting oedema' for the last 6 weeks, yet no (other) sign of pre-eclampsia.

All you can really do to relieve the swelling is try to keep your legs elevated whenever possible and treat yourself to regular massages directed at pushing the excess fluid back up toward the heart. I asked a dietician during pregnancy #3 if there was anything I could do in terms of diet to lessen the water retention but she replied "no" since it's caused by normal hormonal responses during pregnancy.

thanks for reassurance. Have been sitting on sofa last two days and feet look fine so maybe it's work causing this! Will try to leave as soon as possible, haha
