EARLY PREGNANCY TESTS

Was going to name change for this as am bit embarrassed. There is a trillion zillion chance I may be pregnant. Highly unlikely as I have missed two periods completely (before we did the deed) and I am hitting menopause, hence my elderly age and the total shock it will be. How soon can I test, it's a week tomorrow before my period is supposed to arrive. Does First Response go back that far, the worry is killing me. Please help with any test ideas. Thanks

I think first response work 4 days before you are due but are less than 75%, reliable (from memory) but that increases the nearer you are to when your period is due.

But bear in mind that i recently took two hpts and had a blood test a few weeks later ( I would have been 4, 6 and 8 weeks pg). I finally tested positive at what I though was 8 weeks but my scan last week showed 12.

I have a First Response in my drawer.

6 days earlier than the day of your last period it says.

PinkChampagneandStrawberries · 04/06/2012 15:09

Afaik it's 3 days before period is due sorry

I think the earliest first response can detect is 4 days before period is due and then it's not 100% accurate. Don't waste your money as you could easily get a false negative. Hope it all works out for you

RubberBandit · 04/06/2012 15:13

They're not that reliable early on. I got a negative on a First Response 2 days before my period was due. It didn't show positive until my period was 2 days late.

KatAndKit · 04/06/2012 15:14

Dont waste the FR test 6 days early, the accuracy at that stage is like tossing a coin. Ideally hang on until your period is overdue, if you can't wait that long, use a good test such as FR two days early.

Oh poo. So officially my period is due a week tomorrow, which will be too soon to test. I am sooo positive I'm not but cos we had sex, there's a chance I could be. Will just have to wait, thanks ladies.Sad

I would order the cheep dipsticks off ebay and use them. Will be a couple of days before they get to you and they can be used a few days before period due. I think the earliest I have had a positive result is 4-5day before period due. However, I had to wait the full 10minutes for the line to show and even then it was very faint. I would recommend holding out as long as possible because the barely there lines can having you panicking even more than not testing.
