Hi all went for my 20 week scan three weeks ago and couldn't find out if it was a girl or a boy because the way it was lying. So went back on thursday and the baby had its legs crossed so got another scan in two weeks time it doing my head in I just want to know. Anybody else had this.

Our local hospital at the time refused to tell us either way. Knew about this before scan and was a bit disappointed but lovely surprise at birth.

I've always wanted it to be a complete surprise.

Wow I'm surprised ur hospital has offered to rescan. After all it's an anomaly scan. Not a gender one!!! Or have u paid privately? I completely understand ur frustration though. At my 20 week one dd had her ankles crossed was asleep & not for waking up despite the sonographers best attempts. In the end I decided enough was enough n booked a gender scan. Best early Xmas present I could ask for Smile

I'm sure it must be really disappointing to rock up to the scan excited to find out, and then you just can't. But does it really matter, in the end - knowing or not knowing, boy or girl?

Your baby is going to be who your baby is, and that's the most amazing thing in the world Grin The thought of that just blows my mind when I think about my own baby, who they're going to be...We actually just changed our mind by the scan last week and decided not to find out, but thinking about who they are completely eclipses what they are :)

Happy tidings on your healthy pregnancy!

I know its disappointing but do you really need to know? What are you going to do about it if you don't like the answer?

We haven't asked and didn't with DD and I'm looking forward to a lovely surprise when baby finally joins us Main thing is that baby is that you and baby are healthy. Are the NHS really offering all these extra scans just to find out the gender because unless there's another reason it seems quite incredible that they would. I have to have growth scans every 3 weeks from 28 weeks and they are finding it hard to book even these necessary scans in because they are so busy (they actually told us really they'd rather do them fortnightly but can't manage it) Our difficulty is NOT finding out the gender with so many scans.

All the best for the rest of your pregnancy

The hospital will rescan because they can be genital anomalies and they want to see that, they are not rescanning so the OP can know the sex of the baby.

I had to rescan for DD2 as she was hiding her nose but since I was not in the UK, the gyn. was a bit bold the 2nd time (still hiding) and nuged DD2 out of her comfort zone, ouch!, it took 20 min of probing.

Its either going to be a girl or a boy - why are you so desperate to find out?

Thank you for explaining Lemousquetaireannoyme I hadn't thought of that explanation - apologies OP
