So I'm 8 weeks pregnant and the thought of food literally makes me feel sick. Iv completely gone off food!
But with my first I couldn't get enough of food.
Is this normall? Or should I speak to somebody about it?

This is normal, but you could still speak to someone about it. It might help you. They might have some suggestions or just may make you feel better by listening.

Good luck.

Same here just hit me passed few days and I'm nearly seven weeks.

Have really bad constipation so just feel full all the time

Not nice, hope goes soon as I'm emetophobia Sad

Bluetinkerbell · 02/06/2012 17:44

I had the same! I'm now 16 weeks and my appetite and being able to cook is just about coming back, although I still feel sick having to go in a shop to buy food.
It is horrible! I was able to eat but only the things I really fancied at that very moment, there was no mealplanning in advance involved at all from about 6-15 weeks... very expensive unfortunately :(

I had a really bad time with food aversions and I still am now at 16 weeks but its no way near as bad as it was at 7 weeks. I almost cried in m&s during that time because I was hungry and knew I needed to eat to feel better but the thought of everything was just turning my stomach. It's much better now, I still have quite a limited diet but there are foods I can eat.
I'm sure it will get better in time for you.

Hey Loubilou

I am 36 weeks now, and until about 16 weeks I also didn't want to eat! I never knew what I wanted and avoided food. I stuck to bland basics! Once I hit about 16 weeks I went back to normal,

I was do frustrated as we are massive foodies and if course I worried about what I was doing to the little one. My mw was not concerned.

Try not to worry and just listen to your body.

I lost weight the first few months I was pregnant, the only thing I come stomach was those chocolate milkshakes the Galaxy or Mars ones. Normally I don't even like them, they just seemed to line my stomach and take away the nausea.

GrandPoohBah · 02/06/2012 19:43

Blue, I was the same - it does get expensive doesn't it?!

I'm 14 weeks now, and I've started to be a bit less picky about what food I'll eat but I still don't really fancy anything.

It's normal OP, and it will pass.

RooibosWithMilk · 02/06/2012 22:39

Does it make you sick or just make you feel sick? I'm 10 weeks at the moment and for the last few weeks the idea of most foods has made me feel sick but not eating just makes the nausea worse and if I force myself to eat something it's not so bad. Admittedly there are certain foods that I really can't face, and cooking is difficult... I'm eating a lot of mini cheddars and cheesy wotsits as for me they seem to be the things that stop me feeling sick!

Anyway, sympathy... it's not fun, but they say it wears off!

I am 21 weeks, was like that until about 18. Your baby will get all it needs from any reserves u have, don't panic! I lost about 4 kg. the most important thing to realise is that hUnger is contributing to your nausea and when you manage to find food you can stomach, eat little and often! I had 2 ginger nut biscuits before getting out of bed. Allowed me to get up and get ready for work! Most of rest if day was white carbs. Bread, pancakes, scones. V plain sandwiches with salt and vinegar crisps! Then discovered I could cope with smoothies made with milk, strawberry and yoghurt. Poor DH was out of his mind trying to make me eat. And the smells..... Nearly passed out in tesco! I also took preg vitamins to try to give me something. Watch tho as if tummy emPty, can make u feel queasy, and do add to constipation. But from what I read here, was reassured that common and ok to feel like that and it DID pass. Oh and if tooth brushing causing gagging, get some Colgate fluoride mouth wash to help teeth.

Hang in there, you will get through it!!

Normal.

With ds2 I was sick 3-4 times a day and lost weight in the first trimester. Couldnt stomach anything. Really off all food. Smells made me heave.

Only suggestion is force yourself to eat little and often as you will feel better for it.

Toast
Bananas
Milk / shake
Lucozade
Flapjacks
Cornflakes
Apples
Bread and butter
Peanut butter on toast

Absolutely anything. Just have a few bites. Then nibble a bit more. It does stave off the sickness for a while.

Good luck with pg
