Any suggestions for what activities to do at baby shower - my mum has got notebooks for all to guess my tummy measurement , any other similar type things? Or other activities that might be fun?

You could do guess the baby food - have 5 jars of food, take the labels off, pass round and get people to write down what they think it is.
Pin the bottle on the baby - you will be able to buy this online quite cheap
Have a baby themed pinatta (we had a pram one)

All of the above work really well.

My friend is in the process of planning a shower for her sister in law and one of her games is guess the baby - all guests bring a picture of them as a baby and we all have to guess who's who.

Erm, not having a baby shower? Sorry I know that's not what you want to hear but i find the whole idea hideous. However, I do think (having had a baby and now toddler) that some time celebrating you for you is probably a very good idea pre birth

Could you make the most of your freedom and do something you've always wanted to do but never had time/dared to? Or just treat yourself to some time with your most favourite people? A bit of indulgence for you rather than silly games and v baby orientated stuff?

A good game:
Get two large mixing bowls, a timer, a large bag of cotton wool balls, a blindfold and a ladle type spoon. Blindfolded the object of the game is for each player to scoop as many balls from one bowl into the other. One hand is behind the back. They have 30 seconds. It's funny!

Hi, a few ideas... my friend did a pass the parcel for the mum2be and each layer had a game and a little present in.
We did guess the jelly babies in jar, guess the baby food, cut a piece of ribbon to fit round bump and then we all guessed weight, time, date of birth etc. We enjoyed it! Another game I've heard of but not tried is melt different choc and put in nappies then have to smell them and guess choc. All just a bit of fun! X

I've tried melted chocolates in nappies, it was very fun and gross at the same time! Very good for a laugh. I'm from America so I've been to loads of baby showers, the ones with games are always more fun. They do lots of things like baby bingo (you can print the sheets off from online) and loads of other ideas on google. You can try going to Google.com rather than google.co.uk and type in baby shower games and see what comes up. Have fun! and most of all I hope you get some good presents! (In the baby showers I've been to the Mom has to wear all the bows and ribbons from the presents, usually on her head, such silly fun :) )

Hope you have fun maize! Mine is next Sat, so I'll want the low down from yours.

I'm hoping to have games (my sis and SIL are organising it) but have asked not to have the baby food one. Yuck! People having to cut some string to the estimated size of your bump is always amusing. Don't know what other things are in store yet, so not much help.

Just make sure you're the centre of attention, let everyone fuss and organise and you just enjoy catching up with friends.

Hi!
I organised my sister's last Saturday - we played:
Guess the famous baby (Suri Cruise, Harper Seven Beckham etc) and name the mother and father
Guess the Famous person as a baby
(for both of these games I got pictures from the internet)
Guess how many M&Ms in the babies bottle
The dirty nappy game - put food in clean nappies for people to guess e.g. nutella, peanut butter, honey etc
Guess the weight (obviously the winner would be notified after the baby is born)
Baby bingo

For prizes I bought things from Poundland and raided my house for small items that I wrapped and put in a bag so people could pick out one when they won!
Such as unused bath minitures, love heart post-it notes, a Take That poster (Grin), a vajazzle and edible love dust (both from Poundland!), box of malteasers, sweets etc I also did a separate bag for the children with more appropriate things in.

It all seemed to go down very well - it didn't take long for the games but I found the majority of time time was taken up with food and everyone catching up and having a good chin wag! They are all now saying how my sister has a high standard to meet at my baby shower! lol!

Hope this helps (if you need any help with guessing the famous baby games, I still have them on my computer!)

Guess the mess is brill, the chocolate/food in nappies!

I've also been to one where we all drank juice from pound shop babies bottles, that was quite funny

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 03/06/2012 21:09

Not a game, but at a friend's shower someone had bought some aged birthday cards (1, 5, 11, 16, 21) and we all wrote little messages for baby in them. Mum opens them on each relevant birthday.

Will be interesting to see who are still mummy's friends in 21 years time though..

At my baby shower for ds my friend bought a cheap pack of plain white vests and some of the fabric pens and all of the guests had to decorate a vest for the baby - I had to judge the winner. That was great fun and funny to send all the guests pics of ds wearing their effort once he was born!
Also went to a shower where everyone was given a plastic egg wirh their name on it at the start of the day as their 'baby'. Basically you had to look after your baby as the game was to see how many eggs you could acquire from careless mothers during the party - winner was the one with the most eggs at the end.
