I'm 18+4 (baby number one) and someone I see maybe 6-8 times a year (at a conference venue) asked me today 'so how much longer have you got'. We then proceeded to have a chat about how his wife had been pregnant during the summer, I should make sure I put my feet up a lot to avoid varicose veins Grin nice chat, actually.

This is the first person to comment who hadn't been told or wouldn't have known any other way. So, was it just an unflattering dress and me looking a bit chubby after lunch?! am I trying to kid myself that I don't look pregnant yet?!

I can't remember when people guessed with DS1 or 2. With DD (now 12 weeks) a complete stranger I got talking to in a shop looked at my tummy and asked when I was due when I was only 6 weeks pregnant. I think a lot of the time people guess but don't want to say anything. I've guessed with a couple of friends/ family members over the last year but felt it was rude to ask incase a couple want to keep it to themselves until after the scan.

22 weeks, the lady at the supermarket asked how it was all going. I was chuffed I'd moved past the "too many pies" phase!

belindarose · 31/05/2012 19:03

Only in the last couple of weeks. And I'm 36 weeks!

monkeymoma · 31/05/2012 19:05

16 weeks with no1
probably be more like 12 weeks with this one Blush

SimplySoo · 31/05/2012 19:09

hmmm, maybe other people are thinking it but too polite/unsure to say, as you suggest thejaffacakes!

I guess I look pretty chunky in comparison with you then Belindarose Envy

Six weeks, about 12 hours before I got a test and found out myself! I was mortified!

To be fair, it was my unexpected third and I was standing (slouching) waiting in the queue at parent's evening. I made small talk with the nearest mum, a Korean lady, and she asked very loudly when I was due. I muttered that I wasn't but she insistently kept on about it, to the amusement of all the other parents, until I said, no, I was just fat (I had a 12 month old). She looked v crossly at me as if I was lying.

Then I bought a test. Yep, I'm a walking example of why you should do lots of sit ups between babies.

And breastfeeding/not having resumed periods is no protection against conception...but that's another story!

Nearly 18 weeks this time. I was chuffed though- love people asking me!

applepieinthesky · 31/05/2012 22:17

People I haven't told are just starting to notice and I'm 16 weeks. I have seen a few people looking at my stomach and wondering whether to say anything or not.

Florin · 31/05/2012 22:19

Complete strangers at 19 weeks, people we know probably around 15/16 weeks

emblosion · 31/05/2012 23:38

Prob about 20 weeks for strangers, I just looked like I'd had too many pies before that! The bump sort of popped out overnight!

oikopolis · 31/05/2012 23:43

was very obvious to DH from 14ish weeks. but the first stranger commented when i was 22 weeks.

i suspect it was noticeable from earlier (i've seen others look iyswim), but people don't like to comment ime because they're afraid they'll offend you!

LIG1979 · 01/06/2012 04:57

I was amazed how many people didn't notice. With people who know me it was around 18 weeks for women and 22 for men. With other people it only started around 26 weeks. To me and people who knew I was pregnant my bump was noticeable from around 16 weeks through clothes.

Meh. Twice I've brought a baby home from the hospital to my neighbours' surprise! Hmm

joosiewoosie · 01/06/2012 07:02

After about 25 weeks. I temp, and was in one place for 3 days at 24 ish weeks until the secretary piped up on the last day, 'i didn't realise you were pregnant'! There's no mistaking now at 34 weeks....am blooming mahoosive!

NarcolepsyQueen · 01/06/2012 07:08

At 5 weeks - I carry like a tank, and measured 21 weeks at 6 weeks with all 3 pregnancies! I am tall and slim, and I carry all 'bump'. Even the consultants are convinced I am carrying triplets each time I'm so large! With all 3 pregnancies I have had 4 scans by 8 weeks they are so convinced I have multiples!

MatriarchalDreams · 01/06/2012 10:53

I'm 34 weeks and it's only been in the last couple of weeks that people who didn't know have been noticing. About ten days ago I went into work, not having been in for a week and everyone was very pleased I was starting to look pregnant at last (work as a care assistant in a residential home and the tunics we wear seem to hide the bump very well!)

YankNCock · 01/06/2012 13:10

Last week at 32+2 my neighbour (who I don't see that often to be fair) still didn't know I was pregnant. She was asking me if her grandson could have DS's little tikes car when he was finished with it, and I said 'well, I'm going to keep it around for a while for this one' and patted my tummy. She looked absolutely shocked. I think she just thought I'd gotten fatter!

HaggisNeepsTatties · 01/06/2012 13:37

One person asked at about 18w when I was in JoJo Maman, so they probably had a good idea why I was there. Out of context the only other one was last weekend when I was 21 weeks when a lady at the car hire place asked how I was coping in all the heat!

minipie · 01/06/2012 18:02

I am 13 weeks today, first baby, and was offered a seat on the tube earlier this week Blush

It was a man who offered so I'm hoping he was just being gentlemanly towards a woman and it wasn't based on my size! didn't think I was really showing yet!

naughtymummy · 01/06/2012 18:05

Was offered a seat on the bus at 22 weeks with dd. Thats when I decided I should tell work :)

EmilyD2012 · 01/06/2012 20:04

At 16 weeks people started offering me their seat on the tube!

Pickles77 · 01/06/2012 20:10

Sad I'm 23 weeks and no one has asked me yet. I must just look tubby
