Anterior placenta - when did you feel baby move?

Had 20 week scan last Friday and was told I have anterior placenta, hence why I hadn't been and still not feeling anything.

Apart from bump I don't feel particularly pregnant at the moment. Some movement would be reassuring.

Just wondering when I'm likely to start feeling baby move. Be grateful to hear other peoples experiences.

20+4 1st baby

Hi milli congratulations! I too have an anterior placenta and only really started to feel anything from 25 weeks, and not really felt very much at all. It is nice to now be getting movement but it's been a long time coming! I can actually understand how some women don't know they're actually pregnant.

Hi Milli, congratulations! I had an anterior placenta when pregnant with my second DC and also only felt movement from about 24/25 weeks. It was really disconcerting as with my first pregnancy I had felt kicks from about 17 weeks. I hope you feel movement soon, it is very re-assuring when you do!

Thanks for your replies! Good to know you both felt movement at a similar time and no need for me to worry.

I've felt movements from 12 weeks, but this is my second.

The anterior placenta doesn't seem to be in the way of my baby at present...

Its different for everyone, don't worry :)

FoxyRoxy · 31/05/2012 21:17

I've apparently got an anterior placenta but I felt baby move from 15-16 weeks and by 18 weeks you could feel baby from outside.

I can feel baby even when he's turned round, and quite often it feels like I'm being kicked in the bladder or in the errr nether regions. Do you think you've been dismissing this sort of movement as being something other than your baby as you're expecting kicks against your belly?

Spinity · 31/05/2012 21:23

Anterior placenta with my first and I felt nothing, absolutely nothing til 21 weeks, by then it was strong enough to feel from the outside.

This time I have a posterior placenta and can now feel movements at 15 weeks, I definitely did not feel anything like this with thd first!

ontheedgeofwhatever · 31/05/2012 21:26

I'm 30 weeks now with anterior placenta and the movements have been really strong for a couple of weeks but I didn't really start to feel them until about 23/24 weeks and then they were quite faint. Now you can see my stomach move.

I've been feeling them in the nether regions as well, its an odd feeling

scarletforya · 31/05/2012 22:41

24 weeks! Anterior placenta.

emblosion · 31/05/2012 23:30

Prob about 23 weeks, movements were v sporadic (but stronger when I felt them) until about 26-28 weeks. Am now 36 +5 and feel a lot more, but not as much as friends with non-anterior placentas!

It can be a bit nerve wracking, I ended up going in for monitoring for reduced movement and realised looking at the monitor that the baby was moving loads, I just couldn't feel it!

Snap ! Strange as like others my first 2 were easily felt early on I'd say I could feel things from about 24 weeks and now at 32 weeks it feels like she is really going mad in there I can feel every little movement! We saw her on 4D at a growth scan and poor thing was all squished up against the placenta lol like she had a pillow !

Weezie85 · 01/06/2012 09:44

I think it was about 23/24 weeks when I first felt bump move. Had little flutters at about 21/22. DH was gutted though as it wasn't until about 26/27 weeks before he could feel bump moving.

SamraLee · 01/06/2012 10:45

I guess I'm the odd one out, I felt my first movements around 17 weeks, but again those were just the first little "flutters" you feel.
