Also posted this in childbirth. As mine were both quick with unusually my first being quicker then my 2nd? I just wandered what I could expect with my third? Any stories would be appreciated :)

Interested to hear the outcome on this too! I'm also on DC3. DS was 3.5 hours, and DD was only around 1.5 hours ( I only knew I was in labour for 30 mins, but had backache for an hour before my waters went) wonder if I'll just blink and this one will be here lol

Sarahmarie2505 · 30/05/2012 13:35

Lol my waters never went with either of mine but started with back ache ! My first I got to hosp at 6 am she was born at 6.50 my 2nd went to hosp at about 2am went back home as not v far dilated went back around 6 is she was here at 9

With my first I was having contractions for about an hour so the midwife checked and I was already 4cms, so they sent me to delivery suit (was on maternity ward to be induced) got to the delivery suit and I was 10cms!!! Did that in just 20 mins! Confused was then pushing for 2 hours though as DS got stuck! Ouch!
Was in hospital to be induced again with DD, had been having backache for about an hour but didn't really think anything of it as I was in pain from my SPD anyway, then all of a sudden my waters broke so I went down to the delivery suit, the midwife assured me I wasn't in full blown labour yet, so I asked her to check me, 9cms, pushed and baby arrived in 3 pushes! Scared the life outta me. Luckily I was in hospital and I'd never have got there in time, I live at least an hour away from the hospital! Petrified of having this baby on the side of the road if I'm not induced Confused

Sarahmarie2505 · 30/05/2012 13:46

Oh no ! Thats quick quick ! I'm lucky I only live over the road ! But I dnt want a homebirth as we are very closely knitted houses! Dnt want the whole street listening !

Lol! I'd love a homebirth, but I'm living in Germany and to have a homebirth I'd need to employ private midwives and they cost in upwards of €1000 euros, so it will be hospital again for me. I think if I went into labour at home I would have to call an ambulance and hope they got here before the baby made an appearance!

Sarahmarie2505 · 30/05/2012 13:59

Oh my gosh ! Yep me too I was planning on walking there but dnt want her to bang her head on the pavement !

Gosh I wish I had quick births.

First was 25 hours start to finish.

Second was 38 hours start to finish.

Pg with third.

I've had weak contractions throughout both labours and ds2 was as a difficult angle so ended up being prepped for a c section, then having a ventrouse delivery.

Hoping, beyond hope, that this with pop out like a pea from a pod Grin

Mine went in the pattern I'd heard about on here, of the second birth being roughly half the length of the first, and the third being totally unpredictable.

So 24 hours for no.1, then 12 hours (but very easy) for DC2 then about 8 hours from first twinge to birth but with a 2 minute second stage for DC3.

And that's being generous. It was about 2 pushes from 'I need to push' until her head was born. Then it all went a bit tits up with shoulder dystocia, but all ok in the end.

FartBlossom · 30/05/2012 17:07

DC1 labour was 6 hours

DC2 labour was 3 hours

DC3 labour was 8 hours and the worst, but she was facing the wrong way round and the gas and air was having no effect so stopped using it 2 hours before she was born.

McKayz · 30/05/2012 17:11

I'll let you know in a few weeks Grin

With DS1 I was in labour for about 20 hours
DS2 was 12 hours but he was big and MW said it would have been quicker if he had been smaller.

DC3 is a girl but is still meant to be quite big and is another planned homebirth. Due in 3 weeks.

A friend of mine had her 3rd in her mums car in a layby. She was watched by a load of workmen who were shouting and jeering. Another reason I have homebirths.

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 30/05/2012 17:44

My third labour was by far the easiest labour I had.

DC1-13 hours, poor presentation and I ended up having an epidural
DC2-6 hours, straight forward, gas and air and pethidine
DC3-1hour 45, no pain relief, easy peasy!

Heres hoping DC4 follows the half it again time wise pattern that I appeAR to be following!

thisisyesterday · 30/05/2012 18:30

my first was 18hrs, second was 6 hrs, 3rd was 48 minutes Grin

Sarahmarie2505 · 30/05/2012 20:05

This is making me feel better :)

48 mins will do me fine!

McKayz · 30/05/2012 20:13

I wonder if you can book a 48 minute labour. It would be nice.

Sarahmarie2505 · 30/05/2012 20:28

Lol I've got a horrible feeling this one will b hard :( I hope not ! I'm

actually, out of all of mine the 6 hour one was the nicest!
he was back to back as well, but it was all very relaxed and lovely.

48 minutes sounds good, but it was SO intense and I was totaly shellshocked afterwards because it was so quick!
