Is 21 weeks a good time to go for a last adults-only holiday?

Just that really! DH and I want a cheap week away in the sun this summer, in Europe - a last little break in an adults-only hotel, quietly reading our books by the pool in silence, before everything changes for ever with the arrival of DC1 in December!!

We are thinking of going in late July, as this is the only week which works out for both our jobs and doesn't clash with any weddings/work issues etc. I will be precisely 21 weeks on the day we're planning to fly out.

In your humble MN opinions, is this a good kinda time for a week abroad? I am currently 13+4 and my nausea has all but gone and am feeling less exhausted. Not sure how big/uncomfortable I'll be by 21 weeks though?

Also, any recommendations regarding insurance? we've not got annual cover so it would be a case of buying a one-trip cover for Europe. Would I need a docs letter to fly at that stage?

Muchas gracias, as they say....

Sounds like a perfect time to go on holiday. Am not sure about flying etc but am sure it wouldn't be a problem, I think it's 30 weeks that you need a docs note- someone else will know for sure though.

It's very unlikely you'll be big at that stage, chances are your sickness will be totally better and you will fancy eating all sorts of delicious food, and you'll probably be in that sweet spot where you feel fairly energetic and mobile, but still look pregnant enough that everyone will fuss around you and give you free icecream.

I am 16 weeks now and just starting to feel great, after weeks of fatigue and nausea. A holiday would be marvellous.

Go for it!

I'm 24 weeks now and would love a week in the sun! I've got quite a noticeable bump, but am feeling great! Lots of energy, no complaints at all - sometimes I even forget I'm pregnant for hours at a time (until I get a reminder kick!) which I couldn't have done earlier as I was feeling so rank. Can't advise on insurance - but I'd say go for it! You might find the heat different being PG - I'm a real sun worshipper but have found the sunshine a bit more tricky to deal with in the last few days. So I guess just make sure you get some shade if you need it and drink loads of fluids. Enjoy!

Yes it is a great time!
Get insurance that covers pg and consider couples cover so if u can't go then it gets refunded for both of you. No need for a note iirc.
Have fun!

I went to Egypt at 22 weeks. So glad we did - it was perfect. Felt great (although had a bit of sickness, it was nothing like the dreaded morning sickness). Lots of energy. And as we'd just had the 20wk scan, we were able to talk names and feel confident that everything was fine.

Def go for it! I flew with no problems (although I did keep getting up and walking around and wiggling my legs as DVT more likely) (oh, except that did set off the aforementioned sickness - but I never travel well). No need for a note and I didn't even do anything special about insurance.

Enjoy!

Im currently 25 weeks and fly out to Spain next week for our last 'adult only couples' holiday! Like you, we just wanted some time in the sun, lazying around doing nothing for a week - cant wait!

Im feeling fine at the moment - I have a noticeable bump and definitely get tired more easily, but have no sickness and none of the other symptoms which I think may come later (swollen ankles et al!).

I dont need a doctors note (cleared this with the Midwife) and I think we've just got 'normal' insurance. We purposely picked Spain so the flight isnt too long and we should be able to get back home quite easily if we had to.

Have no worries at all though, just looking forward to it!

So Enjoy!! Smile
