So why is it I have completely gone off tea but am enjoying coffee?

And what is it about eggs and jacket potatoes that make me want them?

And why am I craving chocolate - as much as possible?

I have gone off tea as well, I noticed this before I realised I was pg. S although still sharing the odd cafetiere at work.

Love eggs too - scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and bagels. Pasta with melted cheese. Generally everything salty and stodgy.
Had some chocolate today but not really bothered. Don't fancy cake at all which is extremely unlike me.
Really fancy citrus juice and cold fizzy pop, which I never normally go for!
Nothing too weird in my cravings though - but I can already feel the weight going on around hips - and only 9 weeks.

I have completely gone off chocolate, and most sweet things. Can't get enough of pasta, rice, bread, stodge generally.

And I have a total aversion to the smell of clean washing/fabric conditioner - can't bear it.

I have totally gone off tea and I use to love it drink it everyday now the thought of a cup makes me feel sick! Gone off chocolate and chocolate ice cream! I seem to be craving greasy food but when I have some it makes me feel sick to its annoying!! Oh and can't stop eating crisps though I never ate them before!

scentednappyhag · 29/05/2012 17:36

I went off beef, coke, blackcurrant, anything lavender scented and hot drinks.
I found myself completely obsessed with Opal Fruits though, they were the only thing that took away the horrible metallic taste. Oh, and cinnamon, couldn't get enough cinnamon!

kirdy · 29/05/2012 17:41

I find it strange how you can crave different thing with each pregnancy. I mean with my daughter all i ate were peanuts and anything with them in and twiglets but with my son i didn't crave anything at all.

Theheebiejeebies · 29/05/2012 18:02

My baby wants wine, beer, pate, soft blue cheese and anything else her mother is trying to avoid.
Though when a try a sip of wine or beer it tastes really disappointing - too bitter I think.
I thought coffee would be the thing I'd struggle giving up but I can't even bear the smell.

Chunkychicken · 29/05/2012 18:40

With my DD completely hated tea but drank coffee. Didn't notice any particular cravings though, until later on when I loved biscuits a little too much... Knew I had reached the 2nd trimester 'proper' when the thought of tea wasn't repulsive!!

This time went off coffee too, rejected chocolate & craved meat and/or savoury products (anything salty, fatty, generally bad for you). Went through a milk craving phase too. Have restored some balance now at 15wks, so back on hot drinks, actually wanting fruit etc although still have a hankering for chicken Confused

Not sure if your cravings indicate gender. I had heard sweet = girl, savoury = boy but that's probably too much of a cliche to be true. Although part of me hopes its true as I'd kinda like a boy to complete my 'girl-boy set' Wink

mcyawny · 29/05/2012 18:49

I also completely went off tea for first trimester, really really tried to have a 'nice cuppa tea' but it didn't work. As soon as I hit 12 weeks I could enjoy it again, hooray!!

I had a complete aversion to roast meats in first trimester, which has stayed with me.

Cravings - cheese, toast/bread, crisps and stodge. Also, cold OJ and lemonade. We're having a boy.

Dc1 was a girl and I craved fizzy sweets and chocolate. I fitted into the old wives tale for cravings/sex with both pregnancies.

CraftyGirly · 29/05/2012 18:50

I think my baby is going to be a health freak, I've gone off stodgy greasy foods, and pretty much all I fancy these days is fruit and veg!! Struggling to eat a plate full of pasta and I took a bite of a donut the other day and almost threw up...not good, I love donuts! bah!

yellowflowers · 29/05/2012 19:07

I wanted avocados and nutella last time. (Not together). I had a girl.

And when my tea thing came back in third trimester I wanted really strong tea.

Off coffee on tea completely. Love lemons and anything citrus....dh getting feb up with limes and lemons in his pasta!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 29/05/2012 19:22

Fed up obviously! Smile

emblosion · 29/05/2012 19:22

I craved salty, stodgy, savoury things (ham and cheese toasties, pasta with cheese etc) and am having a boy! Never heard that old wives tale but looks like I fit into it too....

Totally went off red meat, tea and coffee to begin with & couldn't stomach anything like salad/healthy stuff in general. Luckily that phase has mostly passed now (36 weeks) or would be even more humongous than I am already!

colditz · 29/05/2012 19:23

With ds2, I developed a real aversion to bolognese and broccoli. I craved orange juice with juicy bits.

colditz · 29/05/2012 19:24

And bleach? I had to rid the house of it to stop me drinking it.

BionicEmu · 30/05/2012 10:54

With DS I couldn't stomach chicken - the sight, touch, smell or taste just made me sick. My cravings though were satsumas (could easily get through a net a day!) and also chocolate digestives dipped in guacamole, yum. Not sure if that counts as sweet or savoury though!

This time round, have already gone off of chicken again and am only 6-8 weeks!

BigFairy · 30/05/2012 11:00

I'm seven weeks and have gone off tea (don't drink coffee anyway), eggs, cheese, milk, chocolate, ice cream and generally all unhealthy/processed stuff. It's nice not wanting unhealthy food as normally I have a terrible sweet tooth, especially for chocolate! If only I didn't feel sick. I'm eating things like toast, fruit, soup, pasta, rice, chicken, veg and yoghurt. No cravings yet! I'm eating healthily but the calories do mount up as I need to snack a lot to help the sickness feeling. And I've not been swimming for over a week now due to feeling sick. Looking forward to after 12 weeks when hopefully I will feel better.

cakeladyc · 30/05/2012 11:56

up until i was 16 weeks, all i wanted to eat was mega carbs - crisps, chips, anything fried, really really bad stuff.
I cannot even look an egg without feeling a bit sick, which as a part time baker, makes me pretty sad. I've made one batch of cakes in 6 months!!
Now at 24+5 im mega into salad leaves and strwberries (not at the same time though)

sammyleh · 30/05/2012 12:08

In 19+2 and cravings are always changing from one week to the next. Its mad!
However, since day one I've not been able to get enough of pickled onions, gherkins and jalapenos. Also hooked on burgers but cannot stand steak. The sight of raw chicken makes me boke, and I cant help but poke my finger through my fiance's paoched eggs in jealousy when he cooks them, knowing I cant have a runny egg. The git!

5madthings · 30/05/2012 12:08

i couldnt drink tea in any of my 5 pregnancies, even the smell made me vomit! bizarrely the second i gave birth i was desperate for a cup of tea each time and the cup of tea and slice of toast i had post delivery each time in the delivery room was the BEST THING EVER!

i craved raw carrots and celery and salty things!

oikopolis · 30/05/2012 16:27

i've gone off chocolate, not so bad now (24 weeks) but at 10 weeks it would have made me go green just thinking about it. i'm loving gummy sweets and slush puppy type drinks (basically pure sugar!) and cheesy wotsits.

can't bear eggs, or bacon, or minced beef anything. can just about shovel down a breaded chicken breast maybe once a week. i've actually gone off all types of meat or animal-fatty sorts of products.

oh and i'm drinking at least two pints of milk a day (!), have been almost from day 1.
and loving shortbread biscuits. and guacamole, salsa & tortilla chips.

tea and coffee fine for me.

basically it seems i am carving dairy and carbs, and struggling with anything to do with animal fat.

allotmentgirl82 · 30/05/2012 18:29

i am craving dried pasta at the moment. i'm 32 weeks and started eating it last week. i have a bag in my desk drawer for munching on at work, and a bag at home.
in my last pregnancy i craved it too and put on nearly 4 stone, so im glad the cravings have only just started!
