Worried about huge bump - ring the midwife or just wait for next appointment?

I am now 26 weeks but I am pretty sure I must be measuring ahead for dates. I am really huge - not all over, just a very very large bump. I am regularly told - even by health professionals (physio yesterday) that I look like I am close to my due date.

The thing is I am worried it may be too much fluid/something wrong - I know it probably isn't but do you think it would be worth ringing the mw? Or just wait for my next appointment (2 weeks time). I was last measured at 16 weeks and all was ok.

If you are worried it is always fine to ring your mw, that's what they are for.

People constantly told me I was about to drop from about 25 weeks though, it gets very boring. My aunt actually turned it into an argument and tried to insist I went to hospital (god knows what for) there and then at 32 weeks as she insisted I was already massively overdue and the baby would die Hmm

Remember bumps come in all shapes and sizes.

Thanks for the replies.

I know I'm probably worrying about nothing - but a tiny part of thinks - if there is excess fluid would it be good to know sooner rather than later? As I've realised my appointment is actually in 10 days I'll probably wait until then.

Sarahmarie - I feel like I've barely seen the midwife too (it's my second)! And even though I am currently not following my own advice, I think you should ring the midwife if you are worried - just to put your mind at rest. 3rd July is a long time away.

Hi viola yes I should really if I can get an appointment! I feel as I only have 9/10 weeks left only hearing the heartbeat once is a bit well poo??? I will maybe give a ring leave a message as no one answers and see if they call back !

I know that feeling! Everyone kept saying 'oooo not long to go now' or 'are you sure there's only one in there?' and I was only 28 weeks!! My bump was just big. I ended up having DD at 38+5 after being induced with pre-eclampsia (not connected to my bump size so pls don't panic!) and she was only 6lb 5. They estimated she'd have been circa 7lb if I had gone another week or two. Just goes to show, big bump does not always mean a big baby. Some of us just carry that way!! That being said, if you're worried it's always worth calling mw to put your mind at rest.

A woman said to me today that there's no way I'll push this baby out, that I'll have to have a Cesarean - judging by the size of my bump at 20 weeks. I could have cried.

I'm coming to the conclusion everyone thinks they can make whatever comment they want about your bump, and it's not cool!

Call you mw if it will make you feel better - no sense worrying about it :)

Tell me about it - people either say that I'm all bump and really neat, or that I'm enormous, about to drop, having twins. Confused

This is my 3rd - you get get bigger earlier subsequent pregnancies. But you do plateau earlier.
