38 weeks - pains and cramps

Hi,

I've not posted on here before but hope someone will be able to help. I am 38 weeks today and for the last few days have been getting tightenings and some quite sharp crampy pains that start right at the bottom of my bump and down into my bits/bum. Are these sharper pains BH or is because the baby is starting to engage and she is pressing on my cervix? Or something else (wishful thinking!)? My DD1 was born at 35+5 after my waters broke and hadn't engaged beforehand, so this is all a bit new to me!

Hello, not long to go now!
I remember getting weird twanging (down there) pains when i was heavily pregnant with my 3. Felt like the baby was doing something odd to my cervix, it happened before I was engaged with baby number 3, but he was back to back.
It's possibly Braxton Hicks tho if they are not regular pains.
Hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

From about 37 weeks I had loads of tightenings, sharp period pain like cramps and lots of other feelings. I gave birth at 40 plus 8 with first and 40 plus 4 with second (that was only 3 weeks ago so I have sympathy for you!)

For me it seems it was just my body getting ready for labour, I took ages! Hopefully you'll be quicker!

SugarMeFingers - sorry to jump on the bandwagon here but I wondered if I could pick your brains....I'm 38+5 and experiencing the same sharp cervix pains that you and AliHasQuestions are describing. My baby is back-to-back as well and I'm slightly concerned about what this means for labour etc. How was it for you? I only found out yesterday and now with every twinge I'm less excited and more terrified for what's yet to come!
