Right, this is probably a silly thing to be worrying about but it's my first pregnancy and I'm stressing about every little thing.
For the past couple of days I've had a mild pain in bottom left of abdo. It's intermittent but I haven't had anything like this which has gone on for more than a few hours before. The only way I can describe it is that it almost feels like someone poking me from the inside out a few times then stops and starts again. I'm 12 weeks pregnant.
I know I should probably call my midwife with stuff like this but at my booking appointment she made it clear I shouldn't bother her with silly stuff.

Should I be worrying about this?

Thanks

Have you had a scan yet? Is it quite low? It is probably nothing as you get loads of different aches and pains when you're pregnant.

BillyBollyBandy · 29/05/2012 08:07

No, it is your ligaments stretching I would think. The early days can be really painful as everything starts to stretch.

Or it could be wind Wink

melliebobs · 29/05/2012 08:08

Could be ligament pain? What with everything stretching out

But if ur bothered ring ur mw no matter what they've said. Better to have ur mind at ease

I don't think you need to worry, I had a similar pain when I was pregnant which I kept getting after I had done a lot of walking/exercising. But do see the midwife if you're worried.

Ah Honey get used to spending the next years of your life in a state of continual terror that something may happen to your baby. However irrationally crazy unlikely.

TheQueenOfSheba · 29/05/2012 08:18

HoneyMum21, the only reason I asked about the scan was to rule out an ectopic. Please don't worry - pregnancy is full of odd pains. I am 20 weeks pregnant and am in constant pain. Not agony (usually), but niggly pains. Right now, my vagina hurts. Yesterday, I had a pain in right side every time I moved. Last week, my tummy was very tight and very painful. It's all normal.

Thanks for reassurance all :)

Just wanted to add, when I was 12 weeks I had a trip to a&e with a pain exactly where you describe. They were worried it might have been ectopic (said I might not have been as far along ad I thought) so come in and be checked out. It was fine and I've put it down to really bad trapped wind! I had awful gas at the start of this pregnancy and it would then go for a week or two and then come back. Thankfully it stop completely at some point.

TheQueenOfSheba · 29/05/2012 08:42

Oh yeah, forgot about the gas Grin. I have had terrible - and I mean TERRIBLE - trapped wind this pregnancy.

Sorry, don't want to moan, just trying to make you feel better Smile

blonderthanred · 29/05/2012 08:46

I had exactly that at 12 weeks. Sudden little flickers of pain or discomfort that felt like a tugging or prodding from the inside. went on for hours.

I was alarmed but all was fine. I can only assume stuff was starting to 'move about'. At 17 weeks I can reassure you that it will be replaced by other strange twinges and pains - but out of the fog of the first trimester it's easier to make sense of them. Good luck!

zoeymlucas · 29/05/2012 14:36

At about 12 weeks your womb moves out from inside your pelvic bone to allow more room to grow - so pain around this time is normal as this is the time everything is 'moving' gettin ready to make more room for baby in later months x
