I'm 40+3. I've had pushing, cervical pains for over a week, just like with DS.

This morning a contraction woke me up, they were coming every 6 minutes or so and getting stronger each time, manageable but painful (rather than the discomfort of the pushing pains). Just like with DS.

So I tell DH (who had offered to work at home today anyway) that he might as well stay at home, as last time it was 5 hours between those pains and transition, and I thought the deal was that second babies were supposed to be quicker. We rang the PILs to let them know it would probably be today at some point that they were needed.

Then.... nothing. For ages.

Now, occasional contractions but less intense than before and with about an hour between them. I thought we'd have a baby by tonight! Massive anti-climax, feel silly for ringing PILs and keeping DH at home, he's now taken DS out and I'm climbing the walls

Please please don't just be false labour, I'm SO ready to get this baby out.

Go in and ask them to break your waters.

LilBlondePessimist · 28/05/2012 13:24

Poor you! All I can tell you is that with ds3, I had similar to what you're experiencing for about 26 hours, then bam, 2.5 hours later, 20 minutes after we arrived at hospital, ds3 arrived (on the loo)! So hopefully you don't have too much longer before you meet your littleun! Good luck :)

I had this. Felt very silly. Ctx every 6m, got in the bath, they stopped for a few hours. DD was sent to DMs just in case.

The ctx came back, every 6m. They stayed that way until 2nd stage - just keep going, you don't need to have intervention such as having your waters broken. You could still have a baby by tonight. All these pains and niggles will be doing what they need to do Smile

Thanks x

LBP and Flisspaps you've made me feel a bit more positive (is there a grimace smiley anywhere? Wink )

Come on, baby.

DH made us a spicy soup for lunch which I more or less inhaled, before worrying that I was going to have a chilli poo in the birthing pool Blush Double ouch.

Aw I know exactly how you feel. I am 40 + 4 and seriously feel like bursting into tears. I had a midwife app today and was supposed to be having a membrane sweep but she couldn't do it cos baby's head still not engaged so I'm booked in for an induction in 7 days time. I've been having loads of braxton hicks and niggly pains for days. I just feel so achy and crampy and I'm constantly on edge. I timed the braxton hicks over 5 hours yesterday and they were 8 minutes apart and really strong but came to nothing! I'm so fed up. I just want my baby :( I hope your little one comes soon too x

Oh dear same here. Thirty nine weeks and Braxton hicks etc for a week then thought waters broken but not. Today having what seemed like contractions allvday and now they have just stopped, just like that. What gives?
