Subchorionic bleed-anyone had recurrent bleeds from this?

I had a subchorionic haemorrhage at 12 weeks, am 15 weeks now. After the initial big bleed I had a brown loss as I was warned. But yesterday and today I've had two more heavy bleeding episodes. I'm living at EPU, feeling quite scared.

Just wondered if others had had ongoing bleeding issues after a subchorionic bleed? Thanks! :)

Hello,

I can't answer your question I'm afraid but will be v interested to hear the answer. I am nearly 10 weeks and was diagnosed with subchorionic hematoma last week after ver scary bleeding. Since then it's just been a bit of brown blood but from what the Dr told me, it could come back and bleed more heavily again (as well as cause miscarriage etc which has clearly terrified me).

Hope your bleed stops. Perhaps give your mw a ring and see if you can get a scan to see what's going on?

I had a bright red bleed at 6 weeks which wad very scary midwife told me not to worry as I had no pain and no clots. Went for a scan at 8 weeks cuz I was still worried they told me I had a hemorrhage and that it was a large one and that it could push baby out and cause me to miscarry which was scary as I saw it on the scan and felt so helpless with this big clot right next to my baby. Went back yesterday for another scan at 10 weeks and baby us doing totally fine and clot is gettin smaller they said they won't need to see me again now as baby is growing fine and clot is not effecting baby at all and they said the clot would bleed out or resolve and they don't seem worried. since my bleed at 6 weeks i have had spotting nearly everyday from dark brown nearly black to light brown pale red and pink. As long as your not having really bad pains or clots i think you will be fine. Its horrible to have to go through its just a waiting game and there is nothing that can be done about it. I don't feel like i can enjoy this pregnancy even though midwives say all is ok. Have you had another scan yet??? Xxx

Thanks for replies :)

I haven't had a further scan but they've been listening to the baby every day and it sounds happy. At the hospital today they found an area of bleeding from my cervix too which had now been cauterised (nice). So I have two problems both causing bleeding. Bit fed up with my body now!

I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through this. I'm 19 weeks and posted quite a similar thread a few weeks ago! It's utterly terrifying Sad I was diagnosed with a sub chorionic haematoma at around 11 weeks, I had a massive bright red bleed, so big that I had to stand in the shower and just wait for it to stop!.... I had 3 subsequent new huge bleeds every week for 3 further weeks with old brown blood in between and was signed off by the GP (I don't think there's any hard evidence that bed rest changes outcomes but I felt that I wasn't doing anything to make things worse, the bleeds also seemed to follow very active days). All of the comments I had on my thread were really positive with all of the posters going full term. My bleeding had completely stopped by 15 weeks and all is well at the moment! Grin My consultant felt that my placenta may had been slightly detached at one edge by the proximity of the bleed, hence the repeated bleeds??

I can't give you any more reassurance but I think that, generally, there is a good outcome with these and google really isn't your friend at the moment!!

All my best and I really hope the bleeding stops soon so that you can enjoy the pregnancy!!

Really need some positive stories right now, I'm currently 9wks +3 (going from last period) first midwife appointment tomorrow however I've had some bleeding the last couple of days, and now I've had cramping the last couple of hours and just passed a clot the size of my palm! (I did inspect and it looks like it's just coagulated blood) I phoned maternity and they have me booked in for an early scan at 9am tomorrow. I'm feeling really defeated but clinging on to hopes it's just a hematoma 🤞🏻 anyone had a clot this big with successful pregnancy? This is my 4th and never experienced this before

Hey, I’m so sorry you’re going through this

i had a huge bleed at 12 weeks with clots and the Drs were treating it as a threatening miscarriage however it did stop after 6/7hrs and then had brown/ old blood for a few days.

the Bleeding then stopped after a few days but returned after a week and I was back in a&e but baby was fine and they said it was quite common to bleed throughout the pregnancy.

I then bled until 16/17 weeks which was draining and haven’t bled since then. I am now 23 weeks pregnant.

I did have quite a large SCH when they did the 12 week scan a few days after the initial bleed.
and it hadn’t reduced in size at 20 weeks

Sending you lots of good wishes and praying it all goes well for you tomorrow.

Try and rest as your body has been through a lot over the past 24 hrs even though I know it’s difficult to do so
Please do keep us posted x
