Can anyone help? I have a fierce craving for citrus - its been grapefruit segments, hood orange juice, 7UP.... But now it's lemon
I want really lemony lemonade
Does anyone know the same of that special lemonade you get in italian restaurants - think I've had it in strada. I need some! Now!

BrainWavey · 25/05/2012 08:13

Pizza express sells a nice Italian lemonade.

Cafe Nero does an Italian lemonade freezer. Lush.

Fentimans d great oldfashioned lemonade

littleweed10 · 25/05/2012 08:36

Ah that's great thank you - and bonus, I might need to eat out todayGrin

I've always craved lemon in pg :)

Tesco do a flat cloudy lemonade that is very strong but I can't remember what it's called. It's got clouds on the bottle I think..

topsmart · 25/05/2012 08:42

What's the name of that other italian lemonade you can get in cans, made by a mineral water company - they do an orange flavour too. San pellegrino? That is yummy, as good as the one in pizza express. Perhaps it's the same one!

And may I recommend making homemade ice lollies out of it (am 24 wks pregnant and share your cravings!)

littleweed10 · 25/05/2012 08:55

San pellegrino - that's it!!
Homemade lollies ooh yes, good idea
I've been sucking the odd lemon too Confused

Waitrose sell the Fentimans lemonade and also lovely lemon juice ice lollies in their essential range.

I love San Pellegrino, yum. Thats the one Pizza Express do!

littlemissnormal · 25/05/2012 09:30

Costa have just started doing fresh lemonade which is really gorgeous! The pink grapefruit one is a bit lush too!

freelancegirl · 25/05/2012 09:46

Am exactly the same and currently waxing lyrical about the lemonade I've just bought from m&s! It's called M&S Traditional Lemonade and in a lovely large individual bottle, not a piddly little thing

Methe · 25/05/2012 10:01

The tesco stuff is called This Water. I drank gallons of it when I was pregnant :)

GobblersKnob · 25/05/2012 10:08

Oh I craved lemon with ds (summer born) but not with dd (winter born).

Anyway, make this, it's amazing

1 cup lemon juice (about 6 lemons if you use lemons)

1 cup sugar

1 cup boiling water

4 cups cold water

Mix the boiling water and sugar together until the suger is disolved. If it doesn't dissolve you may have to gently heat it on the hob. Once the suger is dissolved add the lemon juice and the cold water and serve over ice.

Have to admit, I made a lot of it and got off with sqishing lemon and just bought bottled lemon juice from Sainsburys (like jif but in a bottle), tastes just as nice.

Haven't made it for years, might so some for the dc's, it also makes great ice lollies.

RachelWalsh · 25/05/2012 14:22

Morrisons have a raspberry and lemon fruit cooler drink that is really good and asda sell don Simon lemon drink - both in the fresh juice fridge bits.

You can get 6 cans of San pellegrino limonata in waitrose for 4 quid and they sell it in Costco too. It's the one they have in coffee shops and italian restaurants usually.

R whites lemonade ice lollies are good too in this weather.

Can you tell I share your lemon drink enthusiasm?!?!

RachelWalsh · 25/05/2012 14:23

Oh and if you can find a French restaurant that does citron presse -mmmmmm! Cafe rouges do it I think.

PointyDogs · 25/05/2012 16:56

Sainsburies sell the cans of San Pellegrino lemonade (also the San Pellegrino grapefruit and blood orange fizzy drinks). Delicious ice cold :)

TheDetective · 25/05/2012 17:04

I'm a lemon craver too! Fanta ice lemon does the job for me. Has to be straight from the fridge though... and its on offer at £1 a bottle in both Asda and Morrisons at the moment. We have 10 bottles Grin

littleweed10 · 25/05/2012 18:52

Thanks these are fab tips, love the homemade idea which I can then turn into the lollies - huzzah (mike the knightHmm)
So why is there is this craving? I wonder what it means- scurvy?!

26 weeks here and craving citrusy things too Smile Sainsburys are selling R-Whites Lemonade ice lollies atm I bought 4 packs today I have been searching since I was about 8 weeks and yy to the hideously expensive San pellegrino cans - bloody delicious ice cold. I've also been freezing Capri Suns this week. Mmmmmm

justlemonade · 25/05/2012 20:15

I've been like this with both of my pregnancies-hence the name! In fact, reading this has made me come over all funny. Off to the kitchen to grab a drink!

littleweed10 · 25/05/2012 20:24

Oo er steady yourself justlemonade
I suppose there are worth things to crave... Coal... Brillo pads..

Anything lemon! There must be something in it - vitamin C needs or something. I can veer off into orange too - my favourite at the moment is a large orange eaten in slices. Lemonade lollies sound amazing. I think am going to have to nip out to the corner shop!

littleweed10 · 25/05/2012 20:36

Highly recommend tropicana breakfast juice as a lovely orangey citrusy hit - also has grapefruit in. Had a short but particular craving for grapefruit, eating a big can of segments at a time... Not great for heartburn tho

Littlemissimpatient · 25/05/2012 21:45

You need to go to costa! They are doing iced lemonade in either original (lemon), strawberry or pink grapefruit. It is amazing! So refreshing.

freelancegirl · 25/05/2012 22:03

I had a Tropicana orange with WATERMELON this week! Lovely. I made a comment about Tropicana (just orange) being over 3 quid in my local corner shop, to which DH quipped something achingly witty about Tropicana drinks not being free...

The Costa thingys sound great! And hmm. Grapefruit.

Hey I realise there's quite a lot of sugar in fruit and juice but overall I think we can all give ourselves a pat on the back that we are craving citrus rather than huge bars of chocolate :)
