Weird and sill question about my 12 week scan picture...

So I had my scan yesterday. It was lovely, baby seems to be doing fine :-)

When I was looking at the picture at home afterwards I realised I could see all of his/her teeth! Two perfect little rows of gnashers!

Please can someone reassure me that the little tooth-pegs are actually buried in baby's gums, and I am not going to give birth to a terrifying baby with a full set of teeth??! Like Bella Swan...?!

Told you it was a silly question...!

You might be able to see the teeth that are currently in the gums I guess (like seeing an X-ray) not sure they're developed at 12 weeks tho?

Yes I know what you mean, it's amazing isn't it?

Don't worry, your baby won't be born with a full set :D

Mine has teeth too, makes it look like a scary scull!

Babies xan be born with teeth though she says unhelpfully

ours too! You can see a lot of the bones, including teeth - I just put it down to being similar to an X Ray!

AKMD · 24/05/2012 18:30

Wait until you get to the 20-week scan - full set of vertebrae anyone? That was quite creepy.

Some babies are born with one tooth just poking through. Definitely not the whole set!

DangerMousey · 24/05/2012 18:59

Aw thanks guys - glad it's not just ours!

It does look like a funny little skull though. I am not very good at editing what comes out of my mouth in these situations: I just blurted out to the sonographer:

"oooo look! It looks like a weird little alien monkey!"

Sonographer looked at me like she thought I was weird...!
