Weird and sill question about my 12 week scan picture...

So I had my scan yesterday. It was lovely, baby seems to be doing fine :-)

When I was looking at the picture at home afterwards I realised I could see all of his/her teeth! Two perfect little rows of gnashers!

Please can someone reassure me that the little tooth-pegs are actually buried in baby's gums, and I am not going to give birth to a terrifying baby with a full set of teeth??! Like Bella Swan...?!

Told you it was a silly question...!

I think i can see the same on my scan picture!!!!!

Had the same thing at my 12 week, was quite unnerving as gives a slightly evil grin look. Don't stress, he was born lovely and gummy (has 6 teeth now at 8m though!)

Exactly the same with ds2. I was comparing scans from ds1 and ds2 and ds2 is just weird looking. Looks like he had an open mouth and teeth- he was in fact a gummy baby, but very strange picture.

Can you see the nub on your photo? Do you want to know the sex? I couldn't see it at my dc3 scan- hoping to find out the sex in three weeks.

I think it's the tooth buds in the gums you can see.

I agree that scan pics are a bit unnerving! I think mine looks like the alien in the film Predator! Confused

aw thanks guys! stoopid iPhone posted my message twice earlier so I have inadvertently started two threads on this!

It was a really awesome experience, but you're right candr and needles - the pics themselves look a bit evil and unnerving!! Or "like an alien monkey", as I blurted out to the rather stern sonographer Blush

don't worry, my sons's 12 scan pic was like an alien face, honestly, it was the X Files I had in front of me. With a very oval shape for the head and 2 huge dark almond shape for his eyes... very scary indeed ! at birth he looked absolutely normal...
for my second, had a 3D scan at 22 weeks - because of her position, the sonographer could not see if she had a cleft palate with a normal 2D scan so went for a 3D - it was even scarier ! she looked like an old wrinkled lady with no cleft palate... I was told not to freak out because babies actually put on weight and fat during the last trimester. yeah right, I hope so... I am eating now at 31 weeks more sensibly to make sure she does put on weight !!!!

Dd who is 4 has recently had a head X-ray and it was very scary seeing all her teeth waiting to come through.

Hehehe this made me smile which is good because I am very pissed off with DH right now

I remember looking at my 12 week scan with DD, who was looking straight at the sonogram, and thinking she looked like Skeletor and I even showed it to the midwife to judge whether she thought it was normal or not BlushGrin

Hehe, we had our first scan on thursday and thought exactly the same thing about seeing all the teeth!
