Am I mad? Am 32 weeks and still have 4 weeks before going on ml but just feel really down that someone else is going to be doing my job, changing things...Could be that my temporary replacement was appointed today (my current assistant manager) and so it is at the fore of my mind but am feeling down in the dumps. I don't suppose I'll give two hoots as soon as I walk out of the door in 4 weeks but am I crazy to feel like this??

Not at all! I'm dreading leaving work... I absolutely love my job and everyone I work with. I've got a while to go yet but i know that come the day I go its going to be really hard. My boss said to me the other day 'we best start thinking about your replacement' and he wasn't met with a smile. Don't worry, you're not the only one... I'm sure it'll disappear when your little one is in your arms :) xx

Oh, I get this! But at least they are replacing you, thereby recognising the work you do. My manager is considering getting by with sharing my workload between web managers in other countries (I manage 27 country sites) and while I know it's mainly because he is a complete tight arse, I can't help but feel paranoid they'll start to suspect I don't do much :(

I did. I hated the idea of someone taking over from me (control freak) and worried that they might like him better than me. I was bored stiff for a couple of months at the beginning and kekpt on the blackberry, kept up to date. Suddenly however I got into the swing of maternity leave and it all faded nicely away... (did resume to the control freakery and worry about stand in being better liked as soon as I got back of course). It's a realisation that your old life is on its way out too, and mourning for that. Perfectly normal. Try and look forward to the new one!

I don't even like my job that much but it has suddenly hit me I am leaving at the end of next week and I am feeling very strange about it. My job is very much part of who I am, I am sailing mad along with the rest of my family and I work for a yacht charter company so it is all linked. Will miss the interaction with colleagues too. Hoping I soon have a baby to keep me occupied!
