Ok so I'm "blessed" with a rather annoying, natural pot belly Sad. I swear I could weigh 4 stone and it would still stick out.

Before pregnancy I was a slim 10/12, with the pet pot more or less under control.

I made a good start on the healthy eating until a couple of weeks ago, and although I'm still exercising I've been eating a lot of crap too.

So, I'm 10 weeks and everyone is commenting that I'm showing already! I feel really self conscious about it as I'm sure its just my pot belly plus added cake which is getting everyone all excited.

Could I be showing at 10 weeks (presuming its not twins! Grin ), or is everyone admiring a rather lovely cake bump, hence my username?!

I'm Blush whenever anyone comments...

They are prob just commenting because they know you're PG and everyone annoyingly feels the need to comment on a preg belly.
I have had 3 DC's and have been told I was big/ small by different people.
I have to say it used to annoy me a bit and make me want to comment on the size of their arse!!
Do you think you are showing yet?

CakeBump · 24/05/2012 14:11

No, I just feel really self conscious because I don't think its a proper bump at all. Its exactly what I look like when I'm not watching my weight - all the fat goes on the front of my stomach. I haven't got any scales at the moment so no idea what I weigh.

Although part of me has decided it might be worth just going along with it - not having to feel bad because I look crap, just telling everyone I'm pregnant instead!

Oh and I think at 10 weeks I was a bit thicker round the waist but not noticeably PG and maybe people just thought I'd put a wee bit weight on.

WhatSuitTitSuit · 24/05/2012 14:14

Give it a few weeks and it will be a proper bump and you'll not need to worry. It is a horrible in- between stage.

MuckingFuddle · 24/05/2012 14:16

I showed really early but with me it was twins Grin
Is this your 1st pregnancy ? I think most people show more after their 1st.
I agree with Whatsuit people always have to comment - have they started stroking your belly yet ?

Congratulations Smile

CakeBump · 24/05/2012 14:24

This is my first...

Anyone strokes my belly and I won't be held responsible for my actions!!!

I'm already quite showing at 3 months eeek

with no.1 it wasn't until 7 months then I exploded.

Whysoserious · 24/05/2012 14:32

I feel the same as you CakeBump. People started commenting early on my 'bump' and having a good feel and I HATED it!! They were essentially just touching my fat and it made me very self conscious.

In the last week I've started looking properly pregnant (I'm 16+4) and this is only my first. I look about 6 months pregnant! But it's 70% fat and is just sticking out even more because of the proper bump starting to form underneath. I still don't want people touching it.

I know exactly how you feel

ItsMyLastOne · 24/05/2012 14:57

First time I started showing at 17 weeks.

This time however, I had a bump at about 4 weeks I think! Blush I only had my 12 week scan yesterday and it has been so hard to keep my pregnancy secret as I'm huge. If I told someone I was 5 months pg they'd believe me for definite! I'm so embarrassed about my bump too. I was weighed yesterday too and have actually only put on about 3lbs (which is partly boobs too) but I think I'm very bloated and my abdominal muscles are a lot weaker than they were last time.

ItsMyLastOne · 24/05/2012 15:00

Oh and I'm going on holiday next week at 13+1 and will be wearing a bikini. I might just tell people I'm 5 months pregnant, they'll never know I'm lying. Then I can stop trying and failing to hold it in all the time!

CakeBump · 24/05/2012 15:02

Bollocks, I think I'm just fat Sad

I showed early... I'm a slim size 10 with no fat on me and started to show from about 6 weeks. Now I'm 19 wks and I think just look a little bit fat and its driving me nuts. want the spread to narrow out a bit and form a bump. It'll come soon I suppose. But don't worry, I'm sure we don't actually look fat at all my love, we ARE pregnant :) xx

oikopolis · 24/05/2012 16:30

Cake i am a slim pear shape, had a very small waist before pg. but at 8ish weeks i was in maternity jeans. it was the bloating, it was completely ridiculous, i felt i looked awful and people at work even guessed i was pg, which mortified me!

but i stayed the same size for absolute ages (i think baby slowly gained ground as bloating started to fade!) and only really started showing properly (i.e. baby, not bloat) at 16 weeks.

really, everyone is so so different. don't be hard on yourself, you're supposed to put on weight and you certainly can't stop the bloating/water retention/gas part of it.

Bonnyone · 24/05/2012 16:34

It could be bloating Wink. I thought I was showing from about 10 weeks but then my bump disappeared overnight at about 16 weeks (I was straight on the phone to mw in tears)! Bump really started after 16 weeks. Now 32 weeks and look like a beached whale!!!!

eurochick · 24/05/2012 16:37

A friend of mine had a mini bump at 6 weeks with her first.

bettybat · 24/05/2012 16:48

I genuinely think I am going to be like Jessica Simpson - that seemingly 12 month pregnancy because she just got so HUGE!

I had a 25 inch waist, but big bum, hips and breasts. I am 5' 2" and have a particularly short torso Grin I started showing bloat from around 5 weeks, and had a full on bump by 12 weeks. I'm now 19 weeks and it's like a big, round, protruding beach ball. It doesn't start until right in the middle, but it's now gradually moving up more towards underneath my bust line.

I got loads of those long, tight t-shirts from Primark, and loads of wide leg palooza (sp) trousers in a bigger size because the tight top/bump combo evens out with the wide leg trousers. I think smock tops or big dresses just make me look like Mama Cass from Mamas and the Pappas in a muumuu. I look wider than I am tall in those kinds of clothes, so the stretchy tops still show some semblance of a waist and a very obvious bump.

Some butterball at work - who is actually as wide as he is tall - looked me up and down the other day, actually kissed his teeth at me and said "You're only 19 weeks?" He couldn't dissed me more with that look if he'd tried! Who do people think they are, saying stuff like that? Harumph!

I am a little concerned for size of baby/size of me but will continue with the Jessica Simpson line of it being amniotic fluid Grin
