I am 32 weeks and due in july and from the 20 week scan baby has been measuring bigger.
At 29 week scan was told baby is ment to be 2lb 6oz on average but baby was measuring 3lb 8oz. consultant then said baby will be big at least 9 and half pounds.
Went to see the midwife few weeks ago and she said my bump is measuring above the largest line on the chart and have to go next week to see if baby is still growing at a higher rate. If i am then i will need to go for growth scan.

I have chronic back pain for the last 5 years and suffered PSD with my ast 2 pregnancies. Think there concerned as they dont want me to deliver a massive baby but the last thing i want is to be induced at 38 weeks and have a small baby because they have got it wrong.

Has anyone else been told any of this and how much would you trust the measurements of the scan and bump measuring?

I can remember as a midwife helping a woman give birth to a supposedly "small for dates" baby girl. Seven hours of labour and delivery later she was cuddling a great big fine baby boy weighing in at an impressive 9lb 9oz Grin.

So much for accuracy - this was some years ago now - about ...er...,,,20 years .

I was scanned at 36 weeks and told I was having a big baby. When he arrived at 36 +6, he was 8lb 10oz. I was planning a homebirth and the midwife was totally unconcerned because the scan had indicated that his head was normal size, it was just his tummy that was enormous. As she said, tummies squish.

Good luck.

Told I was having a big baby, and he was born (via CS thank god) at 11 lbs 6 oz.
