Hello, this would be my 3rd. I took a test last Fri (day before AF due) and got a faint +ve. Was due to see GP this morning and had a wobble and took another test (actually two), the First Response was still +ve but very faint (possibly fainter than original test 6 days ago) and the CB Digi said 1-2 weeks when it should have said 2-3 weeks. I'm at 19dpo today and surely should be seeing big fat positives by now? Certain of dates because I temped and use CBFM. Obviously my worry is that HCG levels are not rising and this pregnancy isn't viable. I've cancelled GP appointment because I'm fearing the worst. Feel in awful limbo now. What shall I do? I guess I've no choice but to sit at out and test again in a few days.

Sorry you are going through this. I had a chemical pregnancy last August and the test never got darker till it went back to nothing and then I started bleeding the next day.

Did you use first morning urine? If your urine is more dilute that will have an impact. Similarly, different tests may vary in darkness.

Also, when I posted here people said that they had tests that never got darker and went on to be a sucessful pregnancy. Also, some people never get the same levels of HCG in their urine. So did you get dark lines in your previous pregnancies?

If you aren't bleeding it may be worth going to the Dr to get an HCG test to see what your HCG levels and whether they are rising.

In my experience if it is a chemical, for me it was all over pretty quickly, lighter than a normal period with no long term effects. Good luck x

Hi there, thanks for replying. I can't remember my tests getting darker during my last pregnancies - but I can't recall testing later than when I initially missed my period either.

Well, got a GP's appt in the morning - assume they'll send me for a blood test?

I know this must be a worrying time for you given your past experiences. But based on my experience, you really shouldn't read too much into the strength of the line, how it changes, or the CB digi reading (other than pregnant/not pregnant of course!).

My first pregnancy which ended in mmc I had lines which got progressively darker (noticeably) over the first few weeks which felt really good at the time.

My second pregnancy, which was successful (DD is 11 months old now!), the line was fainter from the beginning, almost invisible at 14 dpo, didn't get much darker, and never really got as dark as the first pregnancy lines were (I did stop testing after a while!) I also had a CB digi saying 1-2 weeks when it should have been 3+ weeks for that pregnancy, and still everything was fine.

You have got two pregnancy tests, both saying pregnant. Try and believe it and get through the next few weeks. :)

I know how hard it is, but you will get there and I wish you good luck. I hope this helps for now.

I hope it went ok at the doctor?

Hello again and thanks for your concern, did one more test yesterday morning and it was virtually -ve and I started bleeding this morning so that, unfortunately is that. One to chalk up to experience!

So sorry. But on a good note your body will recover quickly. When I told the dr they said they happen a lot but often unless you test early you never even know about them it would just seem like a late AF.
