Swollen feet

Soaked in cold water, were ok for a while, went for a walk. Now they are swelling again, toes, feet and puffy ankles. Is this caused by the heat? Haven't suffered much in any previous pg.
More cold water to reduce swelling?
Thanks

I had this in my pregnancy. Midwife told me it's your body struggling to cope with all the extra fluid you carry during pregnancy. The only cure is to move often and put your feet up often (above or level with body) so fluid drains back. If it gets v bad you might need support stockings which won't be nice in this weather

Oh massage helps too

Smallwonder, I am suffering with this badly too. They are fine first thing in the morning and puff as soon as I start moving. Soaking in cold water and keeping feet up seem to help as do ankle exercises and massage to get the circulation going. Am struggling with foot wear though as only my flip flops fit and even the straps on those are beginning to cut in!

Its probably not helped by the heat either.

Two winter babies and pg with my 2nd summer baby, Oedema and swelling have definitely been more of a problem in summer when its hot. Keep your feet raised where possible-good excuse for doing nothing Grin.

I couldn't believe my puffed up feet and cankles last night - honestly think it was the heat although my BP was up slightly too. Back to normal this morning - will be interesting to see how they are by the end of the day...

I have had one extremely swollen and red ish lOoking foot since yesterday evening.. It didn't go down at all when I woke up this morning! Have midwife appt in half an hour so will report bk, but pretty sure we are all so swollen because of the sudden increase in temperature!

Watch out for getting badly swollen feet at the same time as swollen hands - could be (not always, but could be) a symptom of pre-eclampsia. Always best to get it checked out with midwife! :)

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 24/05/2012 14:34

Oooh small give me a clue! I've never been recognised before Grin.

TheLittleMe · 24/05/2012 15:43

Reporting back..

My BP has pretty much stayed at 110/60 through out my whole pregnancy, BP today was 116/91. MW said that whilst this is not pre-eclampsia high, it is still unusual, so just going to monitor how I feel. I've been getting badly swollen hands and feet, but no headaches or floaters in eyes so hopefully all good :)
