Private scan at 8 weeks. waste of money or good peace of mind??

Hi all. Got 4 yr old DD then last yr had 2 mmc both at about 7 weeks. Found out i'm pg again due to pain they scanned me last week at EPAU and said the baby has a hb and is 7 weeks. We were thrilled but she also said there is a small area of bleeding under my uterus which could be bad or mean nothing.

They won't scan me again unless i'm bleeding and my 12 week scan isn't until 19th of June which is ages away. I'm going out of my mind worrying it's happened again any twitch i am in tears can't stop stressing.

So a private scan near me is £75 i should be 8 weeks + 1 now should i have one or wait??

I had 2 private scans before my 12 week scan and they were great for calming my nerves after an MMC last year. Although I have to say the nerves partly came back the day after the scan though. (Which is why I had 2!) however to see bean grow between those 2 scans and then the 12 week scan was fantastic.
If you can afford it then why not. If its going to be a stretch then probably better to grit your teeth and hang on.

I had a mmc last week and next time I'm pg I will def be having an early scan, private if necessary. But if I were you I would wait another couple of weeks - my baby died at 8+6 and as I understand it the 8-10 week period is a very risky time - so a scan now that's fine doesn't mean you're out of the woods. If you see a heartbeat at 10 weeks though that's a very good sign so I would try and hang on til then if you can. That's my plan for next time. Good luck x

After 2 mmcs there would have been no way on earth that I could wait until 12 weeks and would have paid for the peace of mind if I had to. Fortunately my hospital were sympathetic and gave me a viability scan but I would definitely have gone private if they had said no for the sake of my mental health. The anxiety in pregnancy after mc is really tough. I would wait until at least 8, preferably 9 weeks. I had one at 9 weeks and it did make me feel more reassured.
Since you have had a 7 week scan, 9 weeks would be good, if there has been the right amount of growth inbetween the scans then that is a really good sign.

I had one at 6 weeks and one at 9 weeks for reassurance after 2 MCs, best money I ever spent and kept me sane. Those first 12 weeks are utterly brutal, good luck!!

It was definitely peace of mind for me! Especially after a previous mc! The first 12 weeks went by soooo slowly for me and I definitely felt reassured after having an early scan x

Best £80 I spent! Peace of mind in early pregnancy.

I rang the place today and they fit me in. It was amazing, saw and heard hb even saw little legs and arms and it was jumping about. They put me forward to 8+4 even though its a 3 day difference i feel that much closer to 12 weeks. Best money ever spent.
Still a bit worried but so far so good.

The area of bleeding is still there but she said so many women have it with no problem.roll on June 19th x
