Question on baby presents and opening/thanking etiquette

Hi all

We have just been given a couple of presents for our baby, who is due mid-July. Pressies are beautifully wrapped and I said thanks as one was handed over (other was received via someone else).

So I am not sure whether I should open the presents now or wait until when DD is born? And also not sure when to send proper thanks? I feel like I should put them away until baby has arrived, then open them and send thank-you card and photo (so they won't hear anything for 2 months) - is that ok do you think, wwyd?

Am yes I know I am worrying over something silly, sorry! Think it's a displacement activity to stop worrying about all the other things I should be thinking about!
