Anyone had partial placental abruption? 20 weeks pregnant.

And if so, what were your symptoms?

I ask because I've had brown spotting for the last few weeks which got much heavier yesterday. Also had abdominal ache, crampy pain and was tender on exam on right side of abdomen (saw doc in maternity hospital).

Had an internal exam but no obvious bleeding, just lots of brown discharge, got swabs taken but urine was clear.

Doctor google is throwing up (partial) placental abruption when I put in symptoms and dates - anyone got any experience?

Had a huge hole in mine after dd2 was born. I had what I thought was a show and some contractions. They all stopped but I carried on bleeding, enough to need to change a towel three times a day, was a mix of old and fresh blood. No other signs. Hth

I am in hospital on 'abtuption' watch at the moment as have been bleeding heavily since Saturday morning, bright red blood and large clots.

They're looking for a drop in blood pressure, a large bleed that is uncontrollable, and a lot of pain (I also have pain in one side, and period cramps, but apparently it would be much worse pain with abtuption)

Sometimes bleeding, can irtitate the uterus the drs have told me.

As far as I understand, placenta abtuption is fairly uncommon, although I know it does happen, so fingers crossed neither of us has it.

Good luck xxx

Had it for 1st DS. Painless major bleed (lots blood, red clots) at 28 weeks which stopped after about 24 hours then the same again at 33 weeks but with contractions (bleed probably irritated uterus) and DS was born after I was induced. Was a natural birth and DS very healthy! But no known cause to the bleeding... So I am being monitored a little more closely this time. 28 weeks on and all going well so far :)

Not to say yours isn't abruption - I believe you can have it with hardly any blood, but then it is usually mild and think that's a good sign if there isn't much of it and it is brown... hope you're ok, is a little scary...
