I have my 28 week appt this week & was wondering when the MW will palpate squish my belly & try and work out which presentation the baby is in?

Or do they not do that for ages yet?

wow i'm pretty sure I got my tummy felt a long time before that.... they started measuring with a tape measure every time. let me check my notes...

OK in my notes they did the first measurement at 24 weeks

Mine listened to heartbeat/ felt uterus as 16 weeks but I know not everyone does. My next appointment with midwife wasn't till 28 weeks and she felt/ measured every time.

Ah OK well in that case I'd bet that they will do it this time at the 28 week appointment.

I should think she'll defo measure your bump, check heartbeat and feel baby's position at your appt this week. I know it can vary from place to place but 28 weeks is far enough along to be doing all of those. Enjoy!

My midwife first measured at 28 weeks and though she had a quick feel of my tummy at earlier appointments, she didn't do this properly or say/note anything about presentation until 32 weeks.

I'm 28 weeks and though midwife has a feel at each appointment I've yet to see her use a tape measure in this pregnancy or my last. I don't know whether some are just confident enough to do it by touch or if she's missing out something vital

I'm 34 weeks and had a midwife appointment today - my midwife has been measuring my fundal height since 16 weeks (when she did it by eye; the rest of the time it's been by tape measure), but even today when I asked about presentation she said they don't normally check until 36 weeks now as there's still plenty of room, and time, for baby to move before then. Seeing as I'd brought it up though she had a quick feel for the head/presentation anyway.

well, she did measure and feel, and IM measuring 30 weeks, is that a problem?

or am i just fat

How big your measuring has nothing to do with your size - its how high up the uterus has grown. Being a coupel of weeks ahead isn't really anything to worry about, but they will probably just keep an eye on it
