Odd question re mat care

I have had to sign a few disclaimers to allow various bodies access to my medical history.

I am newly pregnant and I do not want these people to know, Im not ready for it to be divulged to the wider world.

Is there any way for me to get maternity care without it going on my GP notes, Im putting off going to GP, but I really need to go.

Just to clarify, I have nothing to hide, its not SS or anything like that.

I thought that access to your medical
history was just that - your history up until the point you signed giving permission, not for 'open' access and updates when something new goes on?

So (for example) if in January 2010 you gave permission for X to have access to your medical history, they could see your medical history until January 2010, but if something was then added in August 2011 then they'd not be told, and if they wanted to access your records again they'd need an updated permission IYSWIM?

What are the people who you have allowed access going to do? Are they going to view your case notes? Write to your GP to request a report on something?

My ante natal notes aren't in my GP records. They're held at the hospital where I gave birth.

Im going to ask HQ to delete the post about who has access in a bit if no-one minds, just thought the additional info relevant (and I dont want people to think I am a paranoid freak!)

When you go to your GP to tell them that you are pregnant (congratulations Smile, take with you a written letter saying that you are not consenting for your health information subsequent to to be shared with the police or work.

It probably worth clarifying what information is being sought anyway - the police wouldnt have the knowledge to be able to meaningfully look through your records - It would be more likely that they would question your doctor, or request a written report on the impact of the incident in question on your health.

I think they just check there isnt some deep dark secret there. There is so much going on, I didnt really ask tbh.

But yes, I think I will just make sure they make note I dont give permission for this to be disclosed, they are fully aware of situation anyway.
