Oh God so glad to find others in the same boat. I'm 20 weeks, should be sleeping wonderfully but have pretty much had insomnia since the very beginning of this pg. I'm a spectacularly crap sleeper anyway, and DS1 shot any minimal skills I had to pieces by waking every 1.5-2hrs for the first year of his life.

Surely I can't spend the entire 9m of pg "practising" for the broken nights to come in Oct? And if one more person tells me that I'll effing well lamp them.

ishopthereforeiam · 20/05/2012 23:50

Urgh yes dame that whole 'it's nature's way of preparing you' thing... What I'd really like is to get some sleep while I can!

hyper hoping at least our sunrise advice was able to help?

Here's to getting some zzzzzzs pre six am today!

I can't sleep...debating about getting up and cleaning the kitchen, lol.

I'm only 28 weeks, so weeks of broken nights ahead of me. I forgot about this joy of pregnancy.

McPhee · 21/05/2012 04:50

I'm awake

33 weeks, DP snoring next to me and it's a good job for him I've no strength to swing an axe Angry

Ginga66 · 21/05/2012 04:50

Oh god I am so tired. Is anyone out there awake. My three year old got up then I lay awake thinking about stuff and now I cannot cannot sleep. I am due in two weeks and I am soooooo tired but need to pee so often, am so anxious and breathless and have so much to do I lie awake making lists. Dh snorez happily on. Help!

ruuca · 21/05/2012 05:28

Good to know I'm not alone... I used to be able to sleep anytime anywhere, but since about 8 weeks I seem to wake up at 3-4am every now and then and just have to keep awake at work somehow afterwards. It's a real pain! Plus the peeing in the middle of the night EVERY night doesn't help either. But on the bright side... I guess this just means that baby's active and growing all the time!

ishopthereforeiam · 22/05/2012 08:42

Urghhhh another rough night for this mama. Slept 1-3 woke up b/c dh was breathing too loudly ( I know, ridiculous!) so moved self to sofa... Then ddvdecided to wake up at 6am (two hours earlier than normal)

Time to lock in some zzzzs

Another crap night here. 11.30 wee, 2.45 wee and then fail to fall back to sleep. Doze off sometime after 4, DH gets up at 5.45 and that's it. Gawd I'm shattered.

Velo · 22/05/2012 11:26

Can I join? Waking up at 4-ish and then unable to get back to sleep. I sort of doze and have really random nightmare-ish dreams.

ishopthereforeiam · 22/05/2012 11:47

Oh no dame does that happen lots? Mine seems to be one good night two-three bad ones...

Welcome velo what sort of nightmares (dare I ask?)

DameFlatYouLent · 22/05/2012 12:34

ishop it does happen often Sad My morning wakings started at 4.30 am but are gradually creeping back earlier and earlier....2.45 is too bloody early. Just tried to nap while DS did: the doorbell went twice then the phone rang, with 30mins between each event. Sleep scuppered royally. Got work tomorrow, can barely function Sad

theressomethingaboutmarie · 22/05/2012 16:20

YAWN I'm with you. I'm simply exhausted. DH is sleeping really lightly at the moment and as soon as he gets out of bed, I'm awake. I've not slept past 3:45am for the past two days and am working full-time, commuting and parenting DD1 with very dark circles and constant yawning. I'm 26 weeks and totally shagged.

ishopthereforeiam · 22/05/2012 16:26

Oh no Dame my morning nap was screwed too - managed about half an hour then postman rang ... then as i closed my eyes again the phone went... Hoping tonight's better.

Welcome theressomething here's hoping it gets better! I'm totally reliant on touche eclat... my eyes look hideous otherwise!

Hyperballad I sympathise with your husband... bloody birds wake me up too!
Have any of you trie pre-natal yoga? I used to suffer insomnia before I started doing it but sleeping so much better afterwards now.

ishopthereforeiam · 22/05/2012 16:38

i loved ante natal yoga sammy i used to fall asleep for 5-10mins at the end of the class, but sadly it didn't help with night sleeps Sad

urgh - so here i am at almost 4am having listed loads of stuff to sell on ebay... now still can't sleep and googling rattan garden furniture. Which is all very well (and looks lovely although a bit pricy) but I don't have a garden!?

Anyone-else short of zzzzs tonight?

Smallwonder · 27/05/2012 03:59

Me!!!!!!!

Smallwonder · 27/05/2012 04:01

I even avoided napping today to ensure I was knackered and ready to crash but oh no! Here I am, been like this since 12ish. It's getting to be not so funny anymore. I cannot function.

Smallwonder · 27/05/2012 04:05

Does this mean everyone is comfortably in the Land of nod except me Envy

ishopthereforeiam · 27/05/2012 04:11

no - I'm still here Grin just been reading the AIBUs and reminded me of all the things people do to annoy you when you have a newborn.... it's all settled down a bit now as dd is 18 months but as the next one is imminent I'm in for round two!

I napped earlier but then can never sleep when dh is in the bed too (we've taken to sleeping separately) as I need a whole bed to take over with the bump...

OP posts:
Smallwonder · 27/05/2012 04:15

I was also reading the newborn niggles, brings it all back now.
I alternate between beds but generally take residence in spare room, DH snores ( or breathes heavily as he puts it) and I wake him too much Hmm
There is absolutely nothing I can do to sleep -- I'm sooooo fed up

Smallwonder · 27/05/2012 04:16

Whoops forgot to ask, how long till LO arrives Grin

ishopthereforeiam · 27/05/2012 04:19

2 months today (!) how about you?

When we were on hols (and there was no escape!) I persuaded dh to try those snoring strips which helped a bit.

Best thing when you can't sleep is to give up - although I might try again now as laptop's running out of juice Sad

OP posts:
Smallwonder · 27/05/2012 04:26

Yes, am going to pretend the birds are not happily chirping by window and force myself to sleep! Congrats on LO Smile should say c u tomorrow night then lol but hopefully not!!!

ishopthereforeiam · 29/05/2012 00:40

Shaping up for another sleepless night here... Baby is busy doing somersaults, skin is sore (stretching I think) but sooo tired.

Are you all fast asleep? Envy
