Sparklekitty, my DH's hand has the same soperific effect on our baby's movements, I'm hoping that this is an indication that he has the ability to soothe our baby with a mere touch, which should come in handy when the little one is born.
DH first felt movements around 19 weeks but it was a few weeks before baby's regular movements were usually strong enough to be felt by him.
I'm now 30 weeks, and although he can feel most movements if he happens to have his hand on bump at the time, we don't often co-ordinate things well. I'll feel the baby is particuarly active and call him over, then the little one settles down. I don't think its just there being a hand there that stops baby, because I can often sit with my hand there and feel baby for some time.
Annoying in terms of trying to get DH excited about baby (that I keep asking him to feel my unremarkable belly), but hopefully it shows some innate parenting skill at soothing baby.
Its fun how things go from 'oh, was that baby' because the movement is so faint, to feeling movement at more than one point on your belly, like baby is stretching or turning around and when movements are so strong that you see them. Enjoy
