I am 30 weeks gone and have outgrown my smart maternity trousers (overbump). I am now in underbump jeans. Fine. But my bump is now so huge that my tops are showing belly (not my style and certainly not at work) so I had to buy some more tops. It seems that most mat tops are shortish anyway so there were only two in Mothercare World that actually covered the bump!! Surely other people must require longer tops or I am truly huge. (Still a size 14/16 everywhere else, just a monster bump, only one baby but lots of water.) Sorry, bit of a rant...

Try Long Tall Sally. I think they do a maternity range and are designed for tall women (over 5ft 10 I think. Their short tops would be long on anyone else!

When I was pg last year I got some jeans from Next with a waistband that sat under the bump, and a big stretchy panel attached to it that went over the bump IYSWIM. The panel is dark blue, so not so noticeable as bare flesh when your top rides up. I lived in them for the last couple of months of my pregnancy - they were dead comfy, kept my bump nice and warm - and I was huge!! (went 2 weeks overdue as well!!)

you all need a belly band/ bump band which is a boob tube like thing for your bump, you can wear your normal tops and the band will cover your skin or blue penel waist jeans, it looks like your wearing a layered top or you can get same colour band as top, so you would not notice at all.

you can get the from topshop for a £5er or have seen some nice sequined ones in boots but think they might have been on clearance stock.
or ebay

Thanks for all that - it's not just me then. Right, off to the internet for some shopping...

Yep, I was the same and both kids were spot on average weight at birth.

Its a PITA isn't it? Especially if you're still working.

I resorted to huuuuuge men's t shirts under nice tops. I figure you can get away with that at 33 weeks +, although some cow at work did ask if I wasn't letting myself go a bit.

when I got to 42 weeks with a baby over 11 lbs I had one pair of trousers that fitted. They were from dp and had a really ugly stretch panel at the front. the rest of the trousers were cotton. By that stage I didn't care though...

lunavix · 22/02/2006 13:37

they have the belly bra things on ebay in lots of different colours

meggmoo · 22/02/2006 13:39

AnnaK I used to tie a soft pashmina round my bump and it looked fab. I always had people asking me where I'd bought my fabulously inventive top from????

SoupDragon · 22/02/2006 13:46

Top Shop maternity sell those belly band things for £5. Work well with under bump trousers.
