I hadn't read about the liver/Vitamin A risk, and I ate some well-cooked chicken liver in my 5th week. Really worried now.... :(

Ok..midwife speaking...stop worrying! As long as you didn't eat liver every meal and snacks for a week and take vast amounts of Vitamin A tablets as well, then there is no problem at all..and at least your iron levels will be nice and healthy.

Oh, thank you Mrsmupperhead for the quick and reassuring response - I have been pretty careful about everything else, (taking folic, avoiding soft cheeses etc) but that had me in a spin!

Mind you...I'm pretty certain my mother/grandmother/great grandmother etc were actively advised to eat liver as the vitamin A thing wasn't known about, and we all came out absurdly healthy. Grin.
The trick is to just do as well as you can..even as a midwife who should have known better, I didn't realise I was pregnant with DD for a couple of months Blush and drank far too much and ate all the 'wrong' things. Spent the rest of the pregnancy worried about the effect on my future baby's brain! She is 14 now, tall, beautiful and very, very clever!

You sound as proud as punch! :)

Yes...I am. Grin. Good luck with your little one..sounds like you're already doing your best, so you'll be absolutley fine.

or even 'absolutely'!
